Think people are off on Lenglet. He's been poor, but he'd be good at LCB under Conte. Imagine Ben Davies playing cb in a two for Barcelona over the last few years, it would not have been pretty. I'm pretty sure Lenglet would be a marginal upgrade in the position.

Still, don't think it will happen, and would be fairly unhappy with it if we did given the other options out there.
Yeah people are going well overboard here. There's every chance Lenglet comes in and takes Davies' spot.

Sometimes players can't get in to one team but can thrive elsewhere. Bentancur & Kulusevski were looking extremely average to poor at Juventus but both have been good signings. I'm not gonna make the same mistake of judging players too much off teams where they've fallen out of favour at.
I do think there’s a distinction though between defenders who are making poor errors, and forwards who haven’t exploded into life.

A defender by their nature have their mistakes punished heavily, while a forward can get away with some bad moments during the game if they have the talent to make up for it.

You’ve missed the point and in some fashion

He isn’t because he has no affect on the performance of the team and therefore no effect on our league position (although many might argue a detrimental effect)

Ergo we’re willing to selling him

The examples earlier, those clubs are going to demand way above market rate because the enormous difference they make to the club

And even your reductive effort of explaining how it works is wrong without considering the previous cases …., if he’s up for sale he’s worth what the market dictates

You've just solidified my point - their respective clubs value those players at that price because that's what their clubs deem what their player is worth just like what we deem Winks' price at.

Prefers Arteta to Conte?

I’d argue he’s improved Dier and Davies significantly from a mistake point of view and could do the same with Lenglet, who was rated very highly until recently & playing for France.

And if he can’t, we still have an alternate LCB option in Davies. I’d prefer this to spending 60/70m on a CB who is anything less than a guarantee.

Torres does make some mistakes, but it’s not that often. Defended well in Villarreal’s run to EL win and then CL semi. Also got great passing.

Sure; I'm aware of his upside..... Presumably Fab/Tony see an upside in Lenglet too.

I've got the distinct impression that it was Bastoni way ahead as 1st choice; then the other 3 or 4 names being linked a distant 2nd. I guess there were Torres links last summer too so he might edge it from the rest.

Who knows maybe Lenglet is more linked to Dav, Japh & Rodon's futures?

Hard to gauge what we'll end up doing; such is Fab's 4D chess stylee (ditto the 3 Brazilians).

Is that Darko Gyabi from Star Wars...?
Well, that's Phillips off the wish list. I thought he would be worth more than Raphinha, so let's hope Leeds listens to Levy's valuation now so Spurs fans don't need to go thru the trauma of having to wait more than a week for their next signing
Does it put Raphinas price up now Philips has been sold and not desperate to sell?
