Richarlison, Bremer, Spence, Bissouma, Perisic , Forster. Are we happy with this if this is the final outcome of our window?
A backup attacker who can be relied on? Check
Top LWB? Check
Top tier CM who's good on the ball? Check
Backup keeper? Check
Top RWB? ...maybe
Top LCB? Failed
Creative mid? Failed

If Lucas also leaves, we'll need another attacker.

So this wouldn't exactly be the top tier window we're hoping for. The RWB and LCB situation is understandable, and we might get by. The Creative mid, and a further attack sub would be big misses.

His Youtube highlight comps mostly seem to be full of his attacking headers. Grabbed a few goals.

Based on that he's amazing in the air.
I remember him scuffing a decent number of defensive headers, and getting pwned physcially in duels.

TBH, attacking headers are different from defensive headers. The former you are on the front foot, on the latter you are on the back foot, so strength and height matter more. You can't get a good leap, and often have the attacked using you to boost their jump.

...but if he's good in the air, that's great.

Arse always spend a fuck ton of money and £150m in 2022 is nothing like it was in in 2012 when they started really throwing it about.
Let's not forget this is the Arse that spent:
£72m on Pepe
£57m on PEH (and gave him away)
£50m on Ben White
£48m on Lacazette and lost him on a free
£45m on Partey who never plays
£42m on Ozil and paid him to leave
£38m on Xhaka who get's sent off and is suspended as often as he plays
£38m on Sanchez who they swapped for some one i can't spell and lost for sod all
£37m on Mustafi - £37m!!!
£31m for Odegaad who is bang average
£31m for Fabio Viera - no one knows who he is
£27m on Saliba who has been on loan for 27 years and won't come back
£26m on Torreira - has he been held captive by drug lords as I haven't seen him?

I haven't even been selective here - that is 13 of their 14 biggest fees with the 14th being the unpronounceable Mkhitaryan who they swapped Sanchez for.

They throw money about every summer and it rarely gets them anything. Arse and Everton make our spending look brilliant.

Makes a beautiful change from Petite and Viera for about £5m… before Wenger got brain fog.

I don't think Davies is holding us back tbh.

He is a committed defender who suits a back three. Neat passer and doesn't have many brain farts.

The key first team issues for me were a more press resistant CM (Bissouma) and better wingbacks (1 down, 1 to go).

I don't think a LCB upgrade has anywhere near the impact of the above positions or adding decent attacking cover which will allow us to rest Son/Kane.

Dier and Davies are just not fashionable players so some people want to spunk 80m on a 20-year old who's had one good season in a pub league.
I like Dier, been in his camp for ages. Davies, for me, is good to have in the squad and useful to play a lot of minutes, but shouldn't be first choice.

I'm of the opposite mind, I feel like reducing our goals conceded is the cheaper, and most expedient approach to moving up the table. We only need to cut out 5 or so goals to get under 35 goals conceded in a season - few clubs have ever not finished in the top 2 doing that.

Likewise, we need to add 20+ goals to get into City territory. That costs a whole lot more than becoming the stingiest club in the league would.

We need to add support in attack, we need add starters at the back. That's my view of it.

Davies is a better LCB in the back 3 than Dier is CB imo
