Transfers Summer 2022 Transfer Thread.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Spurs are keen to continue to work in the transfer market despite a flurry of early window activity to back boss Antonio Conte.
Paratici has now touched down in Italy, in Milan, and is set for a series of meetings over the coming days to further continue Spurs’ business.

He could, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.com, again consider a swoop for a player he rates highly in the shape of Roma’s Zaniolo.

Roma have not completely ruled out selling Zaniolo, but would need a lucrative proposal to cash in.

Tottenham are boosted by the fact that if Roma do decide to sell, then they would rather Zaniolo move abroad than stay in Serie A.
Paratici could also look at potential exits in Italy, with Bryan Gil and Tanguy Ndombele two players with Italian interest.

AC Milan are also pushing for Tottenham’s defender Japhet Tanganga and a meeting with Paratici has already been booked into the diary.

Zaniolo would be a massive risk - the bloke's only 23 and has already had 2 ACL injuries, one of which forced him to miss the entire 20/21 season.

I'm just waiting for the "net spend" brigade to start whinging at the end of this window.

Yeah it's weird, right?

Like...I'd have a problem if we weren't dramatically improving our squad but we have and are doing so!

The fuck does our net spend matter so long as we've massively improved the squad?!

I really think we need to ship a few players out before we think about adding…

Not good to have so many players who don’t have a future at the club knocking about.

Adding another CB whilst Rodon and Tanganga are still on the books is borderline disrespectful. I feel the same way about the RB situation….

As crap as Royal is , he must feel pretty low today

A fair question, I guess a better way to put it is that he’s played 3-5-2 more and it’s the formation he’s known for. Only at Chelsea did he use 3-4-3, mainly because of Hazard not being able to play in a 2.

He’s also pretty flexible to be fair. He did different things with his midfield at Juventus, including playing a diamond with Pirlo, Pogba, Marchisio, and Vidal.

Like I said, I expect he’ll still prefer 3-4-3 because of our squad makeup but will want the versatility to switch to 3-5-2. Conte has also traditionally been a transfer maximalist, I don’t think he’ll be thinking that the club should have to choose between Richarlison and a capable passing midfielder who fits in a 3-5-2, he’ll want both and push for it. Also it might not be Maddison but reporters are saying we want another creative type midfielder.
Beyond the schemes, the difference is made by the players. If you have Pirlo as director with Pogba, Vidal and Marchisio undoubtedly you have many tactical variations. Pirlo could make a 5-meter pass or a 50-meter throw by placing the ball on the full-back's feet. Pogba and Vidal entered like tanks and if he lost the man they followed him by making an interdiction.

It's not. The players knew the writing was on the wall. We used to replace before, so clubs took advantage of us knowing we needed strengthening in that position. Now, we do the strengthening before we sell, so we have more power at the negotiation table. Paratici will figure something out in regards to outgoings too.

Yep, cos that's exactly what I said.

As I've said all along, I won't suddenly start heaping praise on the owners because of a shopping spree.
I'll heap praise on them when it looks like the club is actually trying to win things rather than build sustainable revenue streams.
I don't actually care if our net spend is £100m or £0
I care that the squad is better now. I care that winning now is more important than hedging bets on young prospects. I care that players coming to Spurs aren't brought in because they may one day have resale value.

We are kind of seeing this. In 4 years time Perisic will be in an old peoples home, Bissouma and Richarlison will be near/at 30, Forster will probably still be waiting for his debut. These are not the type of players we typically sign, so there is a shift.
Just need to translate it to success now.
