Yes obviously the tough fit part was how much game time he wanted. I hope we can find a wily vet on a free or cheap for the role, but we'll probably end up taking back GLC or doing something patchwork as a gap measure.
They are definitely looking a bit hot under the collar right now. You know they will always spend money. There's just no way they can recover from the loss of Rudiger and Christensen in one season though. If ever there was a time to kick these mfers in the teeth, it's this season...

This will come back to haunt you...and I'm the type to remind folks of their calls. But remember, if Chelsea thought him worth more they would have spent it on him. They didn't value Kounde as much as Fofana. And there's a reason for that. I agree with them, you don't.
More experienced? 1 extra year in La Liga not 5.
Injury? Came back and looked as if he didn't miss a beat LAST season. And the injury was the result of a cunty tackle and not something that should be expected to happen again or couched as sicknotey.

He’s a specimen. Agree. Just the right frame to muscle it appears (not seen him play, but thought “that is how Traore should be built to maximise athletic potential”).

Perisic, LWB who is pretty nifty up the pitch.
Better than most midfielders, check. Could go RWF or RWB as situation needs, if LWB is best substitute type scenario.
Perisic is 33 & will likely need game time managing. He's also arriving in a more physical, superior league. I expect big things from him (he's a top player) but he's incredibly unlikely to match the output of a Trent who regularly hits 12-13 assists.
Not to mention Liverpool also have a guy on the other flank who can hit double figures. One wing back who is essentially a midfielder given license to roam on the right, and one on the left who is probably the best all round LB in the world & has an incredible delivery on him.
Don't want to derail this thread, but in the part of my post you didn't quote I talked of the emergence of a "chav premium", like the "man utd premium", where Boehly & the chavs are now overpaying for players.
I'll add this. We signed Bissouma from Brighton for £25m, who are now charging the chavs £52m plus a top young player for Cucurella.
If Boehly hadn't been busy buying the chavs, and had realised how badly they need a player like Bissouma, the price would have been significantly higher and we might not have managed to sign him at all.

And for me, in light of what is being paid for CBs (how much was Martinez? And Deligt?) I don't have a problem with the valuation and have fully expected Fofana to go for 80M. And for me, he has the highest upside of any of them...kyle walker kinda upside as in can't be beaten by any player in world football such is his athletic gifts and burgeoning understanding of the game.
But Lester were never gonna sell for less than they sold Maguire so I'm not too sure the chav premium works here but I understand your point. But there were contract issues with Kounde AND Fofana just re-signed (March 2022) last season. Weren't clubs being quoted more for Kounde last season when he had 3 seasons left on his contract?
Bissouma also had 1 year left I believe. They had to sell. And Cucurella had a long contract left...4+ years I believe.
Not sure this evidence is supportive of your thesis. But it is clear Boehly is shelling out a lot of cash.

yanited fans think they overpaid (ie paid a "united premium") for Lisandro Martinez (who Rio Ferdinand has described as slow & short, 1.75m so an inch smaller than Kounde). De Ligt is subject to the super agent (originally Raiola) premium, where the agent insists on a huge payement (aka massive bung). So I disagree that Martinez & de Ligt represent the real market price for a supposedly top CB.
Imo Kounde more accurately represents real market value, and he went for c50-55m despite having a buyout clause of c80m Euros.
Yes, Bissouma had one year left. But we got him for £25m because, to my surprise, no other club of our stature was in for him. Brighton showed with Cucurella that when there's a market, they'll set a price so high that even a bankrolled club like shitty blink and say "we don't think the player is worth that". But the price wasn't too rich for Boehly.
You didn't need to be the creator, manipulator, and pragmatist of numerous teams that won Championships and several Cups to establish that Bergwijn was a one trick pony.
We are pretty much covered in most areas of the pitch, will have much improved options on the bench and now have the best strength in depth for over twenty years.
I think deep down that Conte and Paratici know our strengths and weaknesses and will see that we are a much improved side.
