Oh knowing how much we usually spend and on what, I'd definitely be disappointed if we shelled out 40m for that kind of an option too. Eriksen on a free was the early summer pipe dream...
I feel like Eriksen would have only made sense from a money stand point and not much else.
We aren't going to change permanently to a 352 which already limits his game time. We aren't going to play him as part of a midfield two, which further limits his game time. And I am not sure as a professional, he'd have been happy enough to leave Brentford where he's starting games each week to come to Spurs to sit on a bench for what could have likely been his final big contract.
Richarlison on at ST for, say, Dier, and then Kane dropping a bit deeper to be able to get on the ball at all times would be pretty great IMO. Back 6 pressing high to collect ball, Kane gets choice to play in Son, Richy, or Kulu, with 1/2s back to self or shoot from deep. It could be delicious.
I think in the situation, it'd be the RB that comes off and we'd head for:
Richarlison
Son - Kane - Kulu
Bissouma - Bentancur
Davies - Dier - Romero - Perisic
Lloris
Which would be a worried sight for most opponents defences. But that's just fantasy booking. I don't see Conte ever changing up his favoured formation for a four at the back formation to push on. I don't recall him doing this much at Chelsea or Inter Milan nor in his short time here.Son - Kane - Kulu
Bissouma - Bentancur
Davies - Dier - Romero - Perisic
Lloris
