Not sure why any player would want to join Spurs at the moment. The ones that have are hardly getting a look-in for game time and poor old DJed not even on the bench

Yeah good point.

I would much rather see Spence, Bissouma, Forster and Richarlison start as well.

If we got 1 point from the first 3 games no issue as long as the new recruits are starting and as long as we can attract other players.

Atletico can fuck off unless they agree to obligation to buy. I'm tired of these tight up Spanish and Italian clubs looking for free players for a season.

Atletico Madrid have joined the race to sign Sergio Reguilon in the last few hours, with Tuttomercatoweb reporting that they have offered to take the left-back on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

Reguilon is attracting plenty of interest before the final days of the window. Of course, it would be no surprise to see the Spain international leave before the deadline.

The report adds that Atleti are ahead of Forest in the race. Reguilon would prefer to join Diego Simeone’s men. Meanwhile, Lazio are also admirers of the left-back.

Atletico would clearly be a fantastic move for Reguilon. It does appear that they may soon need another left-back, with speculation surrounding Renan Lodi’s future in the Spanish capital.

They can offer the ‘brilliant‘ defender Champions League football. And that could be particularly beneficial with the World Cup looming on the horizon.

He did spend 15 years on the books at Real Madrid. But it would appear that that is not putting off either Atletico or Reguilon, with both parties keen on doing a deal.

It will be very interesting to see if Atleti now manage to agree a loan deal for Reguilon at this late stage.

True indeed and I’m far from a tactician. Is his set up to have 2 6’s or a 6 and an 8? My point was it seems paqueta could play as an 8 (even though the talk about him is as a “creative” CAM) and add a dimension the Bentancur does not while remaining nearly as stout defensively. There seem to be frequent links but it could all be BS.

———-Son—Kane——-
—Paqueta—Kulusevski
————Bissouma———

With Perisic and Richarlison potentially as LWB/RWB when chasing a game (for example).

That has high productive Goals/Assists all over the shop. No idea about this Paqueta, but if he’s a capable 8 (and no Bellingham clone is around) think Kulu would be (his angle of attack would be better), Kane dropping deeper, giving a 3 AMF effectively, in phases.

Gotta say, think we could/should bum rush most teams bottom half, with this more attacking midfield structure, it can rotate soo much.

I don't understand why anyone's rating the window now.

It's not over

The new signings haven't seen much action yet

We're not going to know how to rate it till later in the season

Last January we had signed what looked like a couple of Juve rejects, in truth they were probably the catalyst to getting top 4. How would that window not be an 8/9 out of 10 for effectiveness? What would you have rated it at the time?

Let's see where we are come the point we're playing 2 games a week, then we'll see how good this squad are.

In truth transfer windows shouldn't really be rated until the following season is over. Otherwise you end up with shit like Everton 'winning' a window because they signed lots of junk. See how the transfers actually look on the pitch & then judge.

(Even then obv a signing might come good years later .. but at least waiting to see how the transfers helped the team that season seems a solid compromise..)

lets see what happens over the next few games, we are only 3 league games in. hard to just throw a load out there and expect it to work. they need to gel etc.

will be surprised if he doesnt change it a bit for forest, last couple games have been very flat and we cant go on like that.

Last winter window, most were throwing in the Towel, after last minute deals for Kulusevski and Juve reserve and Bentancur his older situational peer.

Turned out, it was the best use of £ any team made (that I recall, Newcastle did well, but…).

This summer, we’ve bought Bissouma, who nobody that I recall had a suggestion of better (to our groups characteristics), huge once settled.

Perisic, World Class in last 2 seasons at Inter, appears intent on delivering that here for a few seasons.

Richarlison, Lamela with tighter technical skills and pace.

Lenglet, bordering elite last season at Seville, one who looks custom fitted to prem football, to me. If he recovers Seville form, jackpot, if not he will cover Davies here and there until we get a Conte A lister yonder window(s).

Back up keeper, HG, allowing an extra outfield overseas player.

Precocious young RWB, Spence, who is maybe too young in his development for Conte, similarly an elite talented LWB, Destiny.

And, we are 7 points up on last season, after 3 games.

But, somehow we are doom and gloom, you guys!!!

I think this window has been consistent with Conte's wishes. He didn't instruct the club to break the bank on players, he said he wanted players of a certain quality and that he wanted them in for the start of pre-season and I'd say he got that within an acceptable margin of error.

It might even be safe to assume that Conte doesn't even want new players to come in on deadline day as they will have missed his pre-season and it will take time to bring them up to speed. Indeed, the whole purpose of getting players in early was to avoid the deadline day rat race. If we're not looking at players now, it's because Paratici has done his job to Conte's satisfaction.

What has become apparent from Conte's team selections this season is that experience in the team or with his style of play counts for a great deal - much more than any proven track record elsewhere - which is why Emerson is getting in the team ahead of either Doherty or Spence. Why should we expect a team full of new superstar signings from a manager who is very cautious and conservative in his approach?

The only thing I feel we're missing is a CB who is better able to compete with Sanchez and Romero for the right CB slot but if Conte feels Tanganga is up to snuff who am I to argue? I'm giving the window 7/10 because I feel it marks a significant improvement on summer windows in recent years but I won't rate it higher than that because we failed to get better RCB cover to keep Sanchez and Romero on their toes - that would have got a 9.

It's insane how many people aren't concerned with simple facts......

Bissouma had covid and missed a significant chunk of pre-season.... Relax FFS; he's been one of the best CMs in the EPL in recent seasons!
Perisic IS now starting (having also missed much of pre-season and had an injury to recover from)
Rich IS playing in the role we expected.
Lenglet is injured.

Forster - For Emergencies.
Spence - Work to do.

Also pretty wild people are worried about game time for guys who haven’t been starting.

We’re about to play 3 games in the span of 7 days, and injuries and cup ties haven’t even started popping up yet.

Wait… no fucking way we had ArcspacE on here…

Was he into tennis and specifically Grigor Dimitrov? Oh my, I just checked. Yeah definitely 1000% the same guy. He was on another tennis forum I’m on. This is hilarious. Guy is awful.
Like Joan Thomas and a few others in this thread Arcspace was not a Spurs fan. Just a pure WUM.
Arc did not even know we were playing most matches. Joan and her sycophants in this thread similarly totally not interested in the UCL draw.
Fans? I think not.
