Transfers Summer 2022 Transfer Thread.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

That header in the first half against Wolves had a 5% chance of going in. Five percent. You think it's a big chance, but it's not. And it's the same with all the other chances we have given up. And if we happen to give up a goal, guess what: we're creating plenty to get back and go on and win, as we did with Soton. Go back and watch these matches again and you tell me if we were every really bothered.

I don't need to watch the Wolves game again to know I was bothered in that match. And I was right to be because we created extremely little & ended up sneaking a 1-0 win due to a well worked set piece. We weren't scoring from open play in that game.

There's a tiny part of me that wants to see us sign Dan James just to see the meltdown on here. 5 yellows and 3 perm bans is my bet
There's a tiny part of me that wants us to sign Dan James too. Just to see the comedy of the mental gymnastics unfold on here.

Thursday morning: General consensus. He's fucking shite and an absolutely embarrassing transfer target.

Friday morning: Maybe he ain't so bad. Perhaps Antonio can polish him up

Friday night: Could be a decent buy actually. Especially considering what we paid.

Saturday morning. Great bit of business. Did well to beat off our rivals. Could be the missing piece of the Conte puzzle.

Saturday night. 10/10 signing. 10/10 window. Anyone saying otherwise must be a gooner cunt and don't support Spurs. All Hail "Don" Levy for giving us Dan James!

So Chelsea signing Gvardiol & Fofana but we get Lenglet in on loan and everyone’s screaming there’s no top talent available at CB?
You have to speak for yourself when you say "everyone".
Many, if not most, knew that Gvardiol was available if any club was ready to pay the "ransom" needed (including agent fees, salaries, bonuses, etc.). And it was expected that Gvardiol would end up at either Chelski or Man City once they showed interest.

no we just wouldntt pay the money

its always next year and see what happens with us

and this happens

I've seen plenty of posts saying we've signed Lenglet because the market is poor & we're biding our time for a proper big dick swinging option later down the line.

That's a significantly different assertion to that in your OG post.

Look, it doesn't take much to dig around the internet for all sorts of crap-takes, but "Everyone's been screaming"? Nah......

Most level headed people here seemed to concede to the idea that we'd kept our powder dry to have another crack at Bastoni or Gvardiol next summer.

Granted, a fair few balked at the idea of paying that amount of money when we were briefly linked to the latter at the beginning of the window...... Whether or not the Chavs are now prepared to throw that amount of money at a player that is still only a year or two into adulthood is neither here nor there.

(As for Fofana... I don't recall anybody saying we should pay crazy money for him a few months back either.)

Like, I said above... Signing Gvardiol and loaning him back wouldn't help us in the here and now anyway, so would likely still be Lenglet_in.

These people think they are all smarter than the statistics. Statistics are not perfect but to ignore them completely is foolish.

I saw it so often. This was not a rare take. Loads of posters who pride themselves on being rational & calm were saying it was right we didn't spend big on a CB as the options were not available, same as with right back.

Well one is definitively not happening now & waiting around for a player who really doesn't seem remotely interested in leaving Inter Milan doesn't really scream top tier strategy.
