What top player is going to sign for potentially a Championship club that is in disarray?
What top player is going to want to stay potentially at a Championship club that is in disarray? And therefore what are our chances of instant promotion back to The PL?

This shit is getting real!

I think we need to stop signing players and start trusting our young players more anyway. It can't get any worse than whats currently happening.

Just look at the current mess with all our recent signings...
Gray is out performing Palhinha...
Sarr is out performing Gallagher....
Tel is out performing RKM...
Simons can't even start when we have all of Maddison, Kulusevski, Kudus and Bergval out injured....

The reality is our new signings are just making the mess bigger. Its exponentially growing the problem. We need to stop signing players and start trusting our youth. Because I know what happens next. We sign some left winger who's on 200k a week (everyone on here gets all excited about it), only for him to be on the bench next year because Mikey Moore is outperforming him.

There is no quick fix. We need to start believing in our own again. STOP FUCKING SIGNING PLAYERS!

Our young players clearly aren't good enough. It's not like Chelsea, Woolwich, or City's academys that have top players throughout the big leagues in Europe that slipped through the cracks. Our misses are Madueke and that's about it. 99% of them get to the Championship as their highest level. Just playing them won't help us.

Our youth recruitment is an absolute disgrace.

Signing new players isn't working anyway. We seem to be digging a bigger hole for ourselves every transfer window. How the fuck have we landed ourselves with Conor Gallagher on 200k a week until 2030? Its utter madness. RKM and Palhinha on 200k a week too.

Meanwhile our best performers seem to be our youngest players on the least money. Its backwards. And every window we keep making it worse and worse. Exponentially growing the mess.

The issue is the people doing the recruitment are utterly clueless. But even those you mentioned, and I fucking hate those 3 are better than anything we have coming though by a mile. If we just play our youth players, we'll go down to League 1 without a whimper.

Unfortunately until we produce actual talent, we're going to rely on signings. We just need someone with a brain, and has watched a game of football before to be in charge of recruitment. Easier said than done, I'm very aware.

I don't think our plight has caught up with the fanbase yet.
I have said for years we should always focus on league position over cups as players only care about the league title and CL, not the lower cups.
Now we've won a lower cup at the expense of the league and, in the process, destroyed our squad, we're really seeing the knock on effect of it all.

The league never lies.

If had kept on trying to compete at the top, we might have had more silverware.

Rather than have a shit team, playing shit football, and having one of those runs in a cup, just like Wigan.

Would you take Carrick now?

This is such a straw man. You don't "just play our youth players", nobody with a brain in their head would do that.
What you do is create a meaningful pathway to the first team for the 3 or 4 best of them and we are shockingly bad at that.
The people that say we don't have the players in the youth set up with the talent have either never seen those lads play or have no idea what they are on about.

Was invited to watch Lens train recently. Spent a big chunk of it watching that kid and I was stunned by his kicking abilities. Right foot, left foot, short, long, fast kicks, floaters...felt like watching a No 10.

Still needs to develop physically and work on his shot-stopping, but big potential for sure.

Plenty confident in himself, which is great...but needs to keep his attitude in check & feet on the ground too...found him a tad too "big" the way he interacted with more senior figures and other people around.

How is it a straw man? I responded to someone who said we shouldn't buy anymore players and only play players that have come through ffs. Most of our youth players play at that level when they leave. Not all of them are Harry Kane's.

We don't have the level of players coming through our academy that other clubs do. Name players that have slipped through the cracks in the last 5/6 years.
