Baleba did drop off a fair bit last season but if we want him then its because Roberto wants him and if trust he can get him back to where he was and better.

Baleba at his best is one of those players that can actually compete, match and get the better of a caicedo, rice etc and really boss the middle of the park similar to wanyama. He also opens the door to having a player beside him who can purely focus on getting us to play.

I dont think we have anyone similar at all tbh.

If we really are on for a full scale re-vamp then a baleba/Scott (my prererence) or baleba/Wharton would be transformational for us.

I see where they’re coming from with the signing. Cheap, home grown (I think?), experienced, slots in perfectly to replace Davies etc etc.

But, I would be the same as you. We’ve needed a proper new LB for years. I think Udogie has proven over the last few seasons that he a)can’t stay fit and b) just isn’t very good at a lot of facets of the game. Contrary to popular belief I think he is a good defender, but he is absolutely woeful in an attacking sense, in fact I would say one of the worst in the league. He will really struggle with De Zerbi ball I fear.

Robertson comes in as a clear back up option as opposed to genuine competition for Udogie, which is what was needed, but I think they’ve made such a horrible mess of the squad in general that left back again gets pushed to the wayside with other positions a priority.
I think you will be surprised by Robertson. Don't get the sense he will be Udogie's back up at all.
