No such thing as backups guys, it's competition.

Don't actually care whether VDV or Senesi starts, they'll both gain from it as the competition will push both of them, this is how you improve players and how you improve as a team.

We should be having a crack at Bowen until we get a definite no from him. He'd be much better for us than Savinho would.

If he does leave Wham I would assume ManU would be favourites to get him but if you don't ask you don't get.

Do what? On what planet would this ever make sense?

Why would we get left footed player to play him as RCB, when we will have 6 RCB remaining if and when Romero goes...
Because its the same shit recruitment we've been dealing with for the last 5 years and this will be it again. We haven't signed Senesi to be back up so unless we plan on selling VDV then you are in for a nasty shock come August.

not really a cast off - he's been a mainstay there
Yet another one leaves for nothing . If that was us we would be getting so much stick. Trent and Konatehave gone. Van Dijk and Salah got to the end of their contracts only to sign big new contracts and proceeded to play as bad as they ever have for Liverpool. There was probably a case to keep Robertson.Kerkez has hardly looked impressive. Slot might not get to Xmas.

More chance us lining up in a back 3 at times next season than seeing either vdv or senesi playing RCB
I think you underestimate just how bad our recruitment is. Senesi was a cheap opportunity and the fact he is left footed didn't put us off bringing him in so that we can sell Romero and not worry about a replacement. I'm sure we'll make a small attempt to get Van Hecke or another top RCB but imagine if we don't get one then your recruitment team will simply say - "Hey you have Senesi and VDV so just make it work".

I'm always amazed how every summer our fans assume that we've finally figured it all out and will stop making recruitment mistakes. Unforunately, history usually repeats itself and I'm afraid to break the news to you all but I'd say its highly likely that come August Senesi will be the Romero replacement. I'm not even sure its a given that we sell Dragusin either. Lets wait and see.

I hope I'm wrong. I pray I'm wrong. I don't care about these "Gotcha" moments or proving other posters wrong or any of that stuff. I just want whats best for this football club. But we have the same conversations every summer and until I see a full shift in recruitment planning then I'm not buying into this idea that we have it all figured out this time. We never figured it out before and kept making mistakes. My guess is we are making recruitment mistakes right now in front of our very eyes but fans are in denial

Don’t really know how good Senesi will be but he is not in the Argentina World Cup squad when the 38 year old Otamendi is.
Don’t really know how good Morgan Gibbs White is, 35 year old Jordan Henderson is in the squad over him

Edit: lol this analogy has already been used twice my bad.

Senesi is good. Was one of the 5 best CBs in the Pl this year. He has weaknesses yes but I will take 3 years of stamped PL excellence over any international bollocks. Dont overreact to who looks good in the World Cup this summer.

I said last year that, when people were rubbing their genitals over how liverpool was run, that people would be making effigies of Levy if he was leaving our 3 best players to run down their contracts and allow an academy world class player to walk away (granted they got £10m to release him early). It's now happening again to an extent - Robertson, Salah, Konate - and THEN you get the 35 year old VvD still there and not getting any younger or any contingency.

So liverpool at minimum need 2 CBs IMO - wouldn't be shocked if they sniff at Vuskovic or VdV
