Transfers Summer 2026 Transfer Thread

I cannot believe some of you are turning your nose up at Van Hecke because "he might block Vuskovics path". Did we watch the same team last season? We need quality all over the pitch. You all probably had the same concerns about Gray, Bergvall, Odobert, Tel pathways being blocked and look how that turned out for us.

We need to manage young talent like Vuskovic better than we did with those players because we made a mess of the time they've been here over the last 2 years.
Comparing those 4 to Vuskovic is missing the point entirely.

None of them have in come close to being called the best in their position in their requisite leagues.

ENIC have been absolutely let off the hook.

It is clear they are sh!t scared and now know the only protection to their investment is to invest on better quality.

We won't get the very best but a foundation will be laid to either sell or protect.

Last season was as big a warning as any seismologist would predict of a Richter scale, 7.5 plus earthquake.

It's somewhat ambitious but remains firmly in the opportunistic category for me with his contract ending in a year.

Would we be buying van hecke of he had 3 or 4 years left on his deal?

Until I see us buy a first choice target in form who dramatically improves starting 11 from a team who aren't already feeling pressure to sell then I don't buy this ambition stuff from the Lewis family

Wait.
Wtf?

Should it not be about buying the best fitting players?
Or is it all about money for you?

Your post seems to be hinting that if we sign Senesi (who seems to be very much EPL proven and have the skills that we really need) on a free transfer... is less "ambition" than buying Senesinho that has 5 years left on his deal with equal skillset and equal fit with 80 million euros?

I do not understand that at all.
I'd be over the fucking moon if we can identify 6 tehcnically brilliant players that RDZ wants that are all free agents/ 1 year left on contract.

What should matter is the impact to the squad quality + how they fit to RDZ plans. Not how much money we spend/waste.

Adam Wharton is the obvious solution but his injury record would give huge concerns. Especially given our own record of turning durable players into injury prone players. Almost feels inevitable that Wharton does his ACL on his first game for us lol

Agree. Wharton, for the money he would command, is a risk. Palace would be looking for 80 - 100 million.

He's not like Rice where he's robust and avoids injuries.

They absolutely have to do this. It needs to be a revolution.

They failed to heed the warning after Ange's second season. Finished 17th losing every week. The window we did last year was nowhere near good enough. Failed with Eze and MGW which proved disastrous for our season. Muani was a waste of space and Simons as our main no 10 signing was nowhere near ready to make the impact we needed.

Palhinha and Kudus were fine but nowhere near enough. Clear that our CB and GK area needs a reset also.

But really important we sign a 10, a LW, a RW and a striker too.

We need a whole new team really. Two 17th places in a row shows the team lacks so much quality everywhere.
