The defensive signings are good value, and shouldn’t hammer out our overall spending. Sell Romero and you’ve got three in, one out and are probably £20M up if he goes for 50m and the van Hecke is say 30m (with 1 year left). Gives us huge depth, VDV and Udogie LB, VDV, Senesi, VH and Danso CB, Spence and Porro RB.
Might even get 10M for Drag so c.30m up overall with a much better mix of players. Vusko loan

You can't really compare the two.
Gil played only a total of 436 minutes for the club in the Premier League. He never managed to break into the team.
Savinho, however, has certainly proved that he can compete at PL level.
I'm not saying that Savinho is going to be a success. But I think there's a greater chance of success with a player that knows the PL and has delivered in the league than a player from the Bundesliga that has delivered mediocre stats.

Jonathan David scored 6 goals in 35 matches (20 starts). I don't rate that tbh.
While I don't know if he's good enough for PL, we could get Vlahovic on a free this summer. He scored 7 goals in 19 matches (starting 11). (He didn't play for a long time this season due to an injury).
VDV is perfect for that role… lovely crisp passer that can zip it into a winger early, but also brilliant recovery to tuck in and cover centre backs.
I suppose he's Prem proven to the same level of Saido Berahino and Benjani I guess
