Do you not think its telling that barca decided to pay out on Gordon rather than tried and tested Rashford? I dont dislike him but i think he will end up being a problem 8n a season or so if we do sign him. His last year and a bit at man u was painful, not chasing anything, this was the club he loved.

Gordon‘s best attributes are off the ball work and ball carrying. This part of the game is overlooked but it allows a team to fuction.

Barca in Yamel and co have brilliant on the ball creators and goalscorers but the balance of the attack might be better with someone like Gordon who does the Sadio Mane pressing game than someone like Rashford who is a better goalscorer.

We need a goalscorer probably more due to not having many hence why Rashford could be useful but I do get the concerns with him.

Rashford is definitely not a player we should be chasing in my opinion.

In January, yes. Now, no.

I don’t disagree however I have watched Vuskovic in the German league a few times with Hamburger due to us owning him. He seems very good and calm on the ball but Hamburger do not play like Bournemouth or Brighton, they seem like a very counter attacking side lower in the league type team. He didn’t look particularly quick but his passing and ability to retain the ball under pressure looked really good. He certainly did not show any technical weakness when I watched him, looked more composed than Danso for example. His speed was the only thing you could really note as an issue but Van Hecke and Senesi look about as quick but we have Van De Ven anyway. I do accept though that De Zerbi wants a ready made squad it appears for next season and Van Hecke is as ready as they come.

I think we really need to see him up closely, there's too many people who are acting as if they watch him week in week out, whilst the scouting reports are good things like this concern me, as I said I would love a Prem loan next season.

There's way too much discourse surrounding him anyway, people are acting as if he's the CB version of Messi, whilst he's still good and has huge potential he's not flawless at all, he got caught out the other day for Croatia against Belgium when he messed up a fairly simple high line and played Lukaku onside.

I don't see why another year away hurts though, I think people are just being impatient.

He's still under contract at United, and given the number of managers United have gone through you can understand why he wanted out.

He was exceptional at Barca.

Unlikely to come to us, as will many of our targets, two seventeenth finishes and no European football will reflect in the quality of players we will be able to attract.
He wanted out because he was ostracised and there were valid reasons for it.

I call bullshit on the number of managers justifying his behaviour and rather rely on the opinions of his own fanbase wanting him gone over that of an opposition fan.

He had some good moments at Barca true, exceptional players tend to start games not sit on the bench for most of them.

At his best he's certainly not a player to turn your nose up at but the same can be said of any likely suitors.

Not sure what our last 2 finishes have to do with the discussion or how it impacts on the quality of incomings.

Will we get a headline signing ( will enic be brave enough )
We have finished 17th two seasons running
This must have damaged things
Plus years of levy being in charge of negotiations
Who ever we sign, I’m convinced, it will split opinion
That's no different to any other window in truth. Some will rate a certain player, whilst others won't. Some will see a certain area as critical whilst others see another area as even more critical.

You simply can't please all of the people all of the time.

We might not get in who WE want, but that's irrelevant. It's getting in players that the manager wants, and who will elevate the team as a whole that's important, whether it splits opinion or not.

After all, they're just opinions.

He shit. You are just too silly to understand that he is not athletic mobile or incisive enough to play Centerforward in a top Epl side or even a midtable one. Ive seen him live four times in his pomp at Forentina and at Juve he is crap on steroids He will never play for Spurs thank god. We're you one of the ones that really thought Gyökeres was elite?
For the love of god please give spell check a whirl.

Lots of fans thought that Rice wasn't worth 100M

A players value to a team isn't always about length of contract he has remaining, and we will likely once again settle for the left-overs rather than the main course.

He's twenty five, possibly coming into his prime and paying say fifty million for an excellent CB who should be good for the next eight or nine seasons is still very good value.

If we have made two offers, then we will likely make a third.
What we've offered is fair. I wouldn't pay more than he's worth. We aren't desperate. We can always keep Romero or trust Vuskovic. Make the third bid if you think he's worth that bid. Otherwise walk away. No sweat off us. It'll backfire on Brighton when he runs down his contract and goes for free.

Worst case is another club hijacks us with a similar bid. Again big deal. We aren't desperate here. I don't want to see us jumping to 50m and looking like fools for a player who might not even be a starter next year if others perform (Vuskovic could easily end up a better player).

Again I want us to sign Van Hecke. I think he improves us. But this isn't an essential signing and I wouldn't let Brighton try make a fool of us early in the window. Because then every club will do the same to us because they know we always cough up. We'll just become the new Man United who always pay a tax even when there is no competition
