those against Orban. If we won’t go for £30m potential strikers do you think the club should go £100m for the likes of Ferguson and then not spend much on defence or wing.

Ferguson is never happening.

Recently signed a new 6 year deal and at the perfect club for his development.

He's destined for somewhere like City once Haaland moves on.

Our scouts seem well versed in Ireland so we should always be looking for the next Ferguson.

I think 20M that can reach 30M with objectives is a fair deal mate. I won't argue against that. My point is just saying that for a EPL club 30M is not that "big" of a loss, In my opinion (I could be wrong).

To be fair to your last point Brighton got Caicedo and no clubs were interested and now they sold him for 100M.
If we do go for him then I hope he ends up as good as Caicedo!

Massive problem is for us is players don't want to leave and are under contract that's why we can't shift them and it's making it so much harder with us being a tight club to bring more in

Nominal. Honestly it will be £5m or less I expect.
£1m profit cannot be sniffed at.

I don’t think pointing to bad signings like Maguire and Solanke as a reference point really help your argument. They are reasons to be cautious about spending big money.

I’m not against Orban, I just think 20m should be the base fee and anything more should be tied up in performance related add ons so the risk is shared. If Orban can’t perform for an attacking side in the PL then his maximum value is about 20m - no club in another league is spending more on him.

Note that we are the only club that seems to be in for him. No big club is sniffing around and the Dortmunds, Leipzigs and Benficas of this world don’t seem to be seriously interested either.
There has been a lot of serious interest in Orban from a lot of clubs but he is on record as saying he will only move to a top club next, I don't think he wants to piss around with what he sees as a "lateral move" with a view to going to a top club after. I don't know if we would qualify as a "top club" but we do have a big stadium, playing attractive football with a lot of potential to kick on with the right signings. I'd say we could comfortably outbid any of Dortmund, RBL and Benfica on wages, and we're in a unique position to offer Orban a lot of gametime considering we are light up front. If he impressed in a couple of starts he could easily displace Richy from the team.

If you can do it for one season in the Belgian league then you’re worth 30m? Come on mate, no one serious believes that. There’s no way you think he has « every attribute you want in a forward » at a top class level. You’ve probably never seen him play.

There is a lot of risk with this kind of signing and he could be amazing or he could be Vincent Janssen. Gent’s price needs to reflect that. We don’t need more Sessegnons clogging up the squad thanks.
I don’t think he’s worth £30 million or anywhere near it mate. He’s not at a top class level but the way he finishes is clinical and clean if you know what I mean. I haven’t seen him play and only seen the clips the same as everyone else. He does have outstanding attributes that if he was playing with better players he’d likely improve massively. I don’t think that’s worth a £30 million gamble but if there’s a deal to be done and levy can get creative to get him here then I’m all for it.
And what I was meaning about the goals don’t move is if you have a player who can finish but doesn’t have anything else he’s fucked. He’ll always stay at that level or maybe go up one level but if he has that finishing ability with pace, movement, intelligence and a desire to succeed then they can move up levels quickly.
Look at someone like Vardy, played right down the leagues but had this self belief to get to a better level. He can finish but all those attributes i mentioned has got him to where he is today. He’s not physical but his movement actually can get him out of situations that he doesn’t have to wrestle with a 6ft 3 centre back. I’m not saying Orban is Jamie Vardy but he looks hungry and has got the tools to back it up.

Fucking hell lads, someone get the begging bowl out again...

:levystare:

For the record I don't believe this for one second, at least not the way it's worded, there might be a difference in valuation between the clubs, but this is framed in a way to make it look as though we're acting the pauper...

Yeah it's nonsense - same folk will lap it up though...

In todays market? yes. Especially for a EPL club like Spurs who are very well equipped financially. For Sporting for example its an enormous risk but for you guys not so much. 30M is pennies in todays market.

As you said, maybe he turns into Daka.

Or

He goes to one of Ajax, Sporting, Benfica, Dortmund, Brighton does insanely well and now if you want him your going to have to pay 100M. Just look at what Evan Ferguson would cost if you wanted to get him for Brighton. He has shown nothing to be worth a high valuation yet but I have no doubt he would cost 100M.

I can't predict if he will be great or not, but for 30M I believe its Worth a punt. The potential is clearly there. He has finishing ability that you don't teach especially in someone so young.

Goncalo Ramos just went for 80M to PSG and I believe Orban would score more goals than Ramos did if he played for Benfica.
Our scouting and recruiting is nowhere near as good as those clubs, far more misses than hits .

Not even newspaper talk. Just that he played for Ange at Celtic and people think Ange would want him at Spurs. Which he doesn't.
It's been rumoured in The Express.

And the Daily Record.
