Lazio were reportedly keen on hiring Tottenham Hotspur scout Lorenzo Giani, but have now been deterred from making a move for the Italian on Fabio Paratici’s recommendation.

Maurizio Sarri is looking to restructure his backroom staff at Lazio and had earmarked two potential targets among the Tottenham scouting set-up.

According to Il Messaggero, relayed by Tutto Juve, Lazio were keen to poach both Leonardo Gabbanini and Lorenzo Giani from Tottenham Hotspur.

The pair were initially brought to the North London club by Fabio Paratici during his tenure as Director of Football at Spurs.

Paratici has since left the club in a wave of controversy after he was found guilty of being involved in Juventus’ financial scandal. The Italian was banned from world football for 30 months as a result of the capital gains trial.

Despite this, he is seemingly still having an influence on the sport, and in particular when it comes to Tottenham Hotspur.

Fabio Paratici

Paratici advised club against moving for Spurs man
According to the latest from Italian newspaper Il Messaggero, relayed by Lazio News 24, Paratici has told Lazio president Claudio Lotito not to make the move for Giani.

Apparently, Lotito has now “shelved the idea” of hiring the Spurs scout not long after the interest was first reported. It turns out Paratici had a conversation with Lotito that helped to change the latter’s mind on the hiring process.

Paratici is now a consultant at Sampdoria, in an unofficial capacity, and is also clearly giving out advice to others, too. It is not known what he told Lotito, but clearly the approach for Giani was not recommended.

Spurs Web Opinion

The situation surrounding Paratici is such a strange one. Surely, if he is banned from world football, he cannot be influencing the game at all, even as a consultant.

I would be curious to know why he recommended against approaching Giani, and whether it was on the basis of protecting Spurs from losing their scout.
Bullshit story, we don't have any Scouts!!

Remember us overtaking the Scum as a club recently?

Did something go wrong? Must have because they're bidding massive money for players while we fuck about.

Oh look, Chelsea have signed another top young player for big money while Daniel's got his dick in his hands.

Whose squad is worse again?

I’m talking about money they will spend, not the players they will bring in.
Let them over spend money on players. Chelsea have done it and it means fuck all unless you get results with it. Chelsea have shown that throwing money at something doesn’t work if the right structure is in place. That’s why I’m more excited about Ange than I thought I’d be as he will build things a put a team together that fits a style not just a bunch of really good players that might or might not work.

what a fucking baby. nice temper tantrum

I wonder how many care to understand that goon fans routinely accuse their owners of under-bidding in order to appear interested in players that they actually have little intent in buying and just do so to feign ambition........? ....What's more, that they have the media in their back-pocket in order to gaslight the fanbase.

Now where else have I heard those accusations before..... :kanehand:

Jesus, there’s always arguments on this site.

Spending money means you have ambition to win or get to something. That’s not the case with Spurs nad Enic.

Would guess that there is truth in it for both fan bases.

Transfer Market is also Marketing for the club in that the level of player linked gives the impression the club is bigger/smaller...

Plenty will deny that but take the Goons leaking their bid for Timber. Why would they leak a bid for one of the bigger-name CBs on the market, especially when they knew the bid would get turned down.

The only clubs that don't need to do this so much are the Real Madrid's and Man City's. But even Real are more than happy to maintain the understanding that they are the top destination for EVERY player.

The problem is with transfer nowadays is clubs like Brentford can hold clubs to ransom because they know full well if Spurs don't pay an over inflated fee for Raya, one of the 'money boys' will pay it.

Raya with one year on his contract isn't worth £40m.
Not sure that’s true

If we walk away ….. who buys him?

Chelsea shown no interest ….Newcastle maybe and without us in the running they’re back to trying to get one club to stump up

I think we’ve offered and they’re hoping something falls over with utd or a situation where longing it out strengthens their hand

says who? We haven’t got a keeper and Brentford don’t need to sell. Where else can we get a new number 1 for 40M? We have to overpay, 40M is not extortionate by any means. More than Daniel/Donna and Collecot deem ‘value for money’ no doubt, but quite frankly they can all fuck off and walk into a fire
He goes for nothing next year

How many 30-40m quids have Brentford got to toss around with then?

We need a keeper. Plenty of good keepers out there
