I also think it's harder to put the statistical numbers from centre halves into context too.

Take Romero for instance he's generally thought of as a good defender but was part of a defence that conceded 60 odd goals

Levi Cowill could be a good option too. Doubt Chelsea would sell to us

Tapsoba, Bella-kotchap, max kilman ,ibanez have been mentioned.

Finding a left sided CB who is quick, a 1vs1 defender, good reader of the game, excellent with his feet who also needs to be good in the air. Probably harder to get than a 20 goal a season striker

Watching for defensive qualities requires a lot more time and concentration because it's a lot more about what the player does off the ball than on it and it's very difficult to assess that from short video clips or even from a full match through the lens of a TV camera. This is why player scouting is a specialist job to be conducted by people who know what to look for. Maybe Levy will hire some of them one day.

Not if his model girlfriend who is the mother of his children is insisting they move to London for personal and family reasons. For his career he knows Newcastle would be the better move but he is not allowed to follow that path. In this scenario we have a player who doesn't really want to be here.

I’ll choose to believe that Maddison wanted Newcastle until Kane assured him this week that he’ll be staying at Spurs until he’s 40. And, I won’t listen to anybody telling me that’s ridiculous.

Of course, I'd hope that there is a good option out there.

Good + gettable (considering the typical factors) + able to improve us from day one..... I think it's understandable why fans aren't coming up with much beyond a potpourri of young payers who'd need to take a big step up to transpire to be exactly what we need.

I really still doubt that. I bet we finish above them next season. Just because they had one good year doesnt suddenly make them a better option than us.

Everyone seems to love Newcastle for some reason. Sports washing in motion.

Sad game. Sissoko very unlucky with the penalty decision.

Poor quality game. We had more possession, more shots on goal, more shots on target… the winning team’s centreback was Man of the match…

Sucks but I guess we’d had enough luck to get to the final !
