Leicester probably feel that if noone coughs up the 60 mill they are demanding then Maddison staying for a year more will help them get back into the PL. He can then walk away for free but they will be back in the top league and all the riches that entails.

That's why they are quite relaxed about the situation.
Good point. Like Grealish at Villa.

Maddison is the signing we can actually wait them out for. Unlike Raya/Brentford he is NOT going to want to play championship footy.

In the meantime we can focus on Tapsoba, Tosin and Scott. Whilst clearing the decks of the deadwood/dross and getting a good deal for PEH/GLC etc.

Let's face facts.

Levy won't back Flange Postmanpatintheloo. He'll receive a handful of bargain basement Championship level squad players and will be out of a job by Christmas.

Fuck Levy. Another season wasted.

£60m is too much given the totality of the circumstances. Similar to Brentford with Raya (but even worse considering there's no way Maddison will settle for staying another year while they're in the Championship).

That could buy some very very good CAMs in Europe.

Given his quality 50-60m is justifiable if Leicester had remained in the prem. max they will get for him is around £45m.

Cant see it. They didnt really buy anyone last season because they were skint. They have just seen Tielemans walk away for nothing. Not sure a pissed off, demotivated player is going to do much for them next season. He'll go for around £48m/£52m imo.

we have been linked to that maxence bloke from lyon

with their financial trouble could be a sound option
Ah okay it's all about getting a cheap(er) deal? Or does the player's quality still matter?

You've watched Lyon much them past couple seasons? I'll give you a hint...kid is good but for the 40 mil minimum he'd cost, well no thanks.

But then again wouldn't be the first time Lyon fleeced us for one of their supposedly next big thing midfielder...

Oh and yeah, since when do we want a side with just the one English player in it? Didn't know we'd become Chelsea or Woolwich.

Yeh, we only have 5!
Let me work the 5 out, Davies, who nobody rates. Sessegnon who nobody rates. Udogie who apparently is a great attacker bit not a great defender. I make that 3 but 3 with ? after them defensively. Are you counting Perisic who is a left winger who has been transformed to a left wingback. He did play left back against Spain though but Spain’s attacking prowess was very poor. Can’t think of number 5. As I say we need a defensive left back to balance out the attacking Udogie. Similar to Royal and Porto on the right.

Yep good point about leaving the Maddison position till later in the window. The goalie and defence is more important to sort out early so they have time during pre season to form a cohesive unit.

IMO, we should get the vicario deal over the line, and focus all our energy on the CB situation (Tapsoba, Tosin) and outgoings. Come back late in the window for Maddison, I'm sure they will soften their stance, especially if they see Brentford looking like mugs with the Raya situation.
Also there’s Euro 2024. Maddison will not stay in the 2nd tier and risk losing his England squad place that he fought so hard to get.

This blokes weird, the more I watch him the more confused I become. I see good things and frankly some stuff straight out of that keeper Leeds have. I have concerns he could epically crash abs burn.

I've always felt that the vast majority of keepers are prone to mistakes. It's true when people say you have to be nuts to be a goalkeeper, I mean think back to when we were kids, who wanted to even go in goal :sonhmm:
