The transfer rubbish is coming from journos, not the club. The club doesn't come out at the end of each season and say "these are the players we're going to sign this summer" only to then not sign them.

I'll give you one example, however, where fans were right to be upset: when the club came out with the statement about staying true to the Spurs DNA only to go out and hire someone like Conte. There should have been uproar, but how many people really called out the inconsistency? A handful, maybe. Most fans were fixated on Conte putting Levy in his place and Levy backing Conte, instead of questioning how the fuck Conte fits with Spurs DNA. In other words, they were focused on completely the wrong thing. Just as they are now by complaining about Levy and ENIC running a business as a... business.
Ali Gold gets his info from the club,

Sure it’s not a brief from Levy or a member of the transfer committee but it’s absolutely information that is allowed out.

They have regularly used Gold to rubbish speculation on players and managers when it has suited them.

Don't know if this has been suggested before, but are there any there any takers for dividing this thread up into something like'Transfer News' and 'Transfer Strategy'?

I'm generally only interested in the former, and as others have said its been somewhat painful of late! I think the subject area is proving too big as things are.
If I remember correctly there was an attempt at something close to this … basically a Twitter dump with all net links and then the other thread was all the discussion et al

I don’t know why that broke down possibly people moaned about too much duplication as the links were still also going in the non link thread

That honestly wouldn’t bother me … skim the links thread while avoiding the noise that accompanies them

(A far stronger case for this strategy than prior this year )

I like Ange. Was very skeptical at first but he’s growing on me. Think he’s got the right vibes for where we’re at and at least we’ll have some fun.

But he’s taking over a shit situation so I will manage expectations & if we exceed that then all the better. I think anything else is setting him up for unrealistic goals and that’s when people start blaming him for not reaching the unachievable.
Fuck me that’s understatement… you cried like a toddler spamming every thread you could to tenuously shoehorn it home

I think as you progressed into the politics of this board … you quite often tagged a not so subtle Enic dig on one or two

Fulham signing 2 Centre backs now means we will probably get Tosin.

Aha, so you think we've been waiting all this time for Tosin and now it will happen because Fulham now have their replacements. Interesting.

Not sure tbh. The Tosin talk has gone very quiet, just like for Tapsoba and VdV. Now we are being linked with Bremer and Anderson instead.

It's all a bit messy.

No I didn’t. I posted in the new manager thread about him and pretty much nowhere else. Why make things up?

Okay.

No, I think the amount of revenue Spurs generate makes them relegation proof.
I broadly agree but I think people have unrealistic expectations about Ange. There seems to be a general assumption that we can’t really drop into the lower half of the table and even if we’re shit, we’ll still end up in 8th or so.

I do not share that conviction at all, especially if Harry leaves. Our defensive record was fucking disgusting, which is why some of us are getting irritated with the standard twiddling of thumbs.

PL is insanely competitive. If we’re shipping 2 goals a game, we’re fucked.

You’re talking like last season was the norm and not the exception

Agree look at last season, defence was a shambles, if not for Kane we would have been lower half of the table.
Too many, are caught up in this attacking football, being all exciting to watch, but without the right people in place it all falls apart.
I can see it falling apart quite quickly, there is less than a month to go before the first game, and yet as the recent friendly showed nothing has improved on the defensive front.
