again with this video?

He’s good in space due to his pace (most of these are out wide though, very rarely in the center) and has to go to ground way more than I’d like

Aerially, reading the game, being decisive in tight spaces, etc… it’s not good.

Also he hasn’t really got a right foot for passing.

Read multiple people say he's actually very good with his right foot.

Also that he's great carrying in tight spaces.

Sorry I meant €50m

That’s still a pretty penny of £43m.

You know what that is? A fuckton more than he’s worth. About £20m more at least.
It won't be €50m. He'll be a nice bit better than you think he is imo.. with lots of room to grow. People are too worried about heading stats and moments where he doesn't engage. Like it or not, potential is priced into players bought by PL clubs.

This is not worth anywhere near £43m.

First time I've seen or posted that video.

Here's another

He's very quick, positionally aware, good on the ball, has leadership qualities (Netherlands U21 captaIn), excellent passing, will bring the ball out from defence really well.

You severely under-rate him.

Isn't the point of the buy and loan idea to get players before they become really expensive, even if they aren't ready for your first team?

We see the multi-club model for the City Football Group, Red Bull or now Chavs and Strasbourg.

It's like doing that.

Looks like it worked ok with Udogie and Sarr if they both end up first team players this year.

Udogie would have been a 30-40m player this summer...

Exactly.......

We should have done the same with Spence too.

Buying young and letting them stay at their former club to grow further until they're deemed a bit more prepared isn't like dragging some teenager from Argentina and farming them out to Stockport for a year without their familiar surroundings nor THFC infrastructure behind them. Nor is it being shy of "taking a chance on our youth".

The 'no other clubs use the loan system' sentiment is just an extra layer of BS attempting to prop up an already weak argument.

One mistake in 11,198 minutes of professional football. You'll hava to do alot better than that.

Oh come off it, we’ve talked about this before multiple times haven’t we?

That goal right there is emblematic of his flaws as a defender. It’s not a mistake it’s a trend, a defining characteristic. He stands off and stands off. I’ve written at length about this.

Right here I have 5 glaring, undeniably poor errors directly leading to a goal. Even as bad as Dier was this year, you’d be hard pressed to find 5 mistakes of his that look as bad as this
Transfers - Summer Transfer Thread 2023!

I bloody know he has a lot of potential but when you’re spunking £40m you aren’t just buying potential. That’s my entire issue with it. Buying him for this fee significantly decreases the chances of buying another first team CB. And if he is to start from day 1, we are in trouble. He is not good enough at the moment.

The club has always done deals like Rodon, and tolerance for British young championship player with potential has always been there. It's a strategy that has served us well in the main, it just didn't work out this time.

Let's not play dumb here - we both know that *in general*, the fans would receive a player from Swansea City, who had been getting games for Wales for a year, better than a player still in China. This has always been a factor in what the club does. There's a reason why Maddison was wrapped up very, very quickly this window,

I liked Kim more (always thought he looked a good player whenever i watched Sonny for Korea), but I get the logic behind the Rodon signing. Should Skriniar have been brought in, as well as one of Sanchez or Alderweireld being moved on? In hindsight probably, and Mourinho would've been better off for it.
We overpaid for Joe Rodon because we wouldn’t pay for KMJ. It’s hindsight, agreed, but in the absence of an immediate first team contender, like Skriniar (who has also maintained a very high level) then Joe Rodon was not the smart punt over KMJ- even on a purely commercial basis.
I feel for Joe - as much as you can for a pampered millionaire man child (like they all are) who earns more in a week than most can hope for in a year. I like him as a person and he isn’t an awful player. I won’t shit on him.

Nobody is playing dumb btw. Someone playing for Swansea has no greater draw than someone who has been touted as the next big thing by a fellow Korean pro who is playing for the team already. If your original comment about Son bending ears is right.
