Do you really think Bayern are going to spend all Summer chasing after Kane, only to pull the plug when any comparably decent strikers are all pretty much going elsewhere?
I think you underestimate the strength of our hand here.
As much as I'd love Kane to stay, I think this deal will get done, but on our terms, not theirs.
They've spent the Summer putting on a full charm offensive and expecting Kane to agitate for the move. So far, nothing from his camp.
They've nailed their colours to the mast here, and will be hugely embarrassed if they don't pull off the 'coup' they were expecting in their arrogance.
I'm not too much in favour of leaking our targets, unless they are well down the line (I still have nightmares of Willian leaving his Spurs medical half way through it), so hopefully this one too far down the line to be highjacked if it is a genuine target

But a part of me does wonder how Brennan Johnson might look in the Belgian League against Zulte Walgreens.
And are those two things mutually exclusive? At what point do you think it has moved from getting the best possible outcome to “Levy getting one over Bayern Munich”? How can we even make that determination when we have no idea what the actual bids have been aside for journalist reports?
I happen to agree it’s best to sell and reinvest, and have thought that for quite a while now. That said it’s in our best interest for Levy to extract as much as possible for him.

Is dragging it out to the final days worth the uncertainty for an extra 10m? Or the risk of getting no money?
It’s small time chairman stuff. Levy loves it, loves his reputation as a tough negotiator and revels in it.
And other teams must love sticking it to him when the shoe is on the other foot. And how much good does it actually do the club?
We’ve heard pretty consistent reports about the bids. They don’t seem unfair. If they’re all wrong fine, if they aren’t then well..
Thing is we have only seen Johnson do it in his sunny native country; can he do it on a cold rainy tuesday night in Bruges?
They’ll absolutely pull the plug if they think they’re getting shafted. Bayern aren’t PSG, they never pay insane fees. There will be no panic button press.

Seems like Kane has made his thoughts extremely clear. He’s been careful to not repeat the errors of the Neville interview but he’s obviously looking for the move. He doesn’t need to force his way out with only a year left.
Nah, he's staying. Just a bunch of master baiters sucking everyone in. Quite impressive how much mileage they've gotten from this window, but I guess this is the last time they can really push it this far.
Hmmm...two words...I agree it's absurd to analyse or judge players based on their FIFA ratings when Football Manager is just so much more accurate.

Well I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. What we're asking for him isn't insane, considering the way the market is now. Where are they going to get the same quality for a lesser price elsewhere? Kane guarantees goals. There are few players in the World that you can say that about, and none of the rest are available.
Bayern know that if they don't get him now, they're never getting him. That's the strength of the hand.
Whether Kane needs to force his way out or not is irrelevant, where Bayern are concerned. They have this one window of opportunity to get him.
All in my opinion of course. There's merit in both arguments, so we'll just have to wait and see how it all pans out.
So if he’s overplayed his hand so much, how did he get BM to move their bid from 60 or 70 million (I can’t remember what the first one was supposed to be) to upwards of 100 million? Would it had better if we left 20-30 million on the table just so we could be sure we got something? What if there is a real prospect that Kane would enter into negotiations if there was no move like a few have reported?
You’re making this out to be Levy irrationally haggling over 10 million when the reality is far more complicated.
Isn’t that exactly what you’re criticizing him on though? You’re relying on the accuracy of the information and using your thoughts on what’s fair or not. We also don’t know shit about the add ons or payment structure. There’s no way BM are handing over anything significant of that fee in a big upfront payment.
Whatever one feels about Levy, he is negotiating for the club and has to be backed 100%.

We’ve been spending more than has come in the last few windows so we have a negative net. Assuming that they were probably planning on doing the same this year — without selling Harry — then our net might now be lower than prior windows (where we’ve barely sold anyone of note other than Bergwijn).
Still, the more we get for Harry, the more our actual spend us likely to be — perhaps not all spent in this window — but it should certainly raise the kitty.
