God this sophistry from ENIC/Levy defenders is so tiring. The problem is obvious, the squad isn’t good enough, it’s bloated, it needs to be cut down, and we need to upgrade players to challenge for our ambitions.

That problem is still yet to be solved.

Until it is we will be falling short of a trophy again and again and again, as we have the past 15 years. And it looks that way yet again unless things change massively by 31 August.
I think you hit the nail on the head with "our ambitions".
They are ours but they are not levy/enics....
Therein lies the root of the problem.

England isn't a very big place. Most players don't live in London, they live outside, where it's nice. The training ground is at the very northern limit of London. We only play half our games in our part of London.

I don't think it's as big a deal just being in London, as it is to have a club that actually wins things, spends money and pays wages.
That's Chelsea, that's not us.
London is a massive draw and all premier league clubs pay high wages. Maddison was not going to be paid more at Newcastle than he is at Spurs. Also Newcastle who last won the FA Cup in 1956 and that is the last trophy they won.

Agree 100%

Porro should be cover / replacement for Kulu not Royal. Not saying we don't need a proper right winger but would rather we spent the funds on a #9

Melting and crying is one way to put it. Maybe watching the same movie for the past 10 years has made me a bit tetchy.

You should worry more about the delusions about being gas-lit and feeling toyed with by non-existant media propoganda....... Tears or not is far from the crux.

Yeah and Doherty we literally had to release because of not understanding the limits on amounts of players you can loan. True story. So what confidence may I have in the planning of our back room members as it relates to outgoings?

Completely misses the point; Levy was still 'clearing' the deck for incoming players.

And yes as mentioned above when we finally did a clear out in 15 under Poch things changed for the better. What happened from 17-20, including our 0 transfer 2018 window, was a tragedy and a disaster. And I’m not going to forget that, no one should.

This is such a reductive anti-discussion view upon things.

Balls..... You lying about things being "the same" since 2010 is what's "reductive".... It means others end up wasting their time dispelling bullshit.

I showed you THREE windows since your time-stamp where we cleared the deck (much of which was at a loss and many for a nominal fee). Yet you barely blinked and started complaining about something new.

......Shifting the goalposts to talking about something other than the lack of exits (to avoid the further solid counter-evidence your BS claim about 2010!) is all the more reductive..... And shit-housey.

It just shows that you're indiscriminately bouncing from one thing to the next in order to score a 'shot' rather than genuinely debating the aspect of the matter that YOU raised to begin with.

Yes getting these players out won’t bring a massive life improvement. But even a middling life improvement would be great! If we could get CB depth and another forward (as has been rumored) i’d feel much much better about the season.

This is what I mean. I’m not saying we need to shift players for the sake of it. We need to shift players so that we can improve the squad and actually challenge for top 4.

You don't even recognise it, but you've just echoed my closing comment...... i.e. Chill the fuck out and allow the process to unfold ...... The window doesn't just randomly close cos your balls start to tingle and you whip yourself into a panic.

And look there likely will be. Even I am not that pessimistic. It seems there are 6 or 7 potential outgoings aside from Lloris which is good news......... It’ll likely be done with a week remaining in the window.

Meaning that we'd have a week to sign a couple of players who may well be approached and part negotiated for already (for example Orban).

The problem as I am trying to eloquently state is.........

Fcking hilarious......Wailing about "gaslighting" and "ENIC-defenders" is you at your most eloquent is it?

Good to see you're starting to calm your rhetoric down now though.

This is a bit daft though, unless we beieeve Postecoglou is lying.

I get the impression (could be completely wrong) that he expects a couple of signings but has also been told only when we move players out.

As Postecoglou has said the squad needs trimming, I guess he is thinking if that happens then show me the money Daniel.

We are all singing from the same hymn book but from different pages.

The striker gap is mental despite all above.

“We can't just keep acquiring players. It's not so much one has to happen for the other (outgoings and incomings), but our focus for the moment is to try and trim the squad down and see where that takes us in terms of reinforcements. We're constantly assessing things - still a few weeks to go - and I'm sure you'll see some movement. We can strengthen in all areas but that's not about bringing in players for the sake of it. They need to be the right profile.”

Clearly he wants to strengthen the squad (as does any rational fan as we still have clear gaps and weaknesses).

..............And he also seems confident that we will do. From the VERY same tweet:

I'm sure you'll see some movement.

And on Sunday he said he's "sure" will bring more in.

............But your corner of the room are persistently ignoring those comments.

#BadFaithDebating.

The Ange thing is a return to the dynamic with Poch really.

Poch was not mad Levy wasn't buying him players. Poch was mad Levy and the media were holding him to a level of expectations the club's level of investment made totally unrealistic.

Poch was happy to stay here forever as a scrappy 5th place team that he had total cultural control of. His own excellence made that impossible, in the end.

At least right now, this season, what Ange wants is to show the Premier League his football with no doubts and no compromises and if we finish 12th so be it. He says this plainly every time you put a microphone in front of him. Whether he'll have the quality and depth on September 1 to nick 4th spot is not on his mind at all, that's not what he's aiming at.

He intends to win and believes the uncompromising application of his methods (alongside sensible investment of course) will get us there in time, but watering down his principles to salvage results in the short term will never be a consideration, ever.

Strap in, it's gonna be a bumpy ride.

Joan, I’m not very happy with Levy. But it should be pointed out that, yes, the club footed the bill for the stadium et al, but it also receives the proceeds, which are significant.

As I sad, I’m not very happy with Levy’s stewardship and haven’t been for a while. I would love us to be bought and run better than we have been the last few years. But I really think the Levy out movement would have more success if they actually focused on what Levy has done/is doing badly instead of this constant misguided gibberish.

Moaning about the club funding the stadium and events is just playing into the pro Levy agenda, these are things that Levy has actually done well, increasing the clubs revenue streams and revenue and making us more appealing to potential buyers.

You need to concentrate on what Levy is doing badly. Which is managing the football “brand” of the business, which is the core business. Investing the clubs money badly in player assets and huge contracts for poorly matched coaching staff, out of sync with the brand. Mismanagement of academy assets and academy coaching staff.

Spot on.

It's funny seeing keen bullshitters or conspiracy fans liking and agreeing though...... Self awareness is a sadly lacking virtue.

:balesnarl: most of our squad 100% live in London. Kane was in the process of moving more centrally. I've spoken to agents who tell me that living in London (central London )is a very big draw for Latin American and African players and in particularly their wives. What Ive noticed about my fellow English men is that its them who are down on London. All the Italians I know personally (family and freinds!) Would not choose to live north of Watford if they could at all help in fact they'd rather root canal. Its like inverse patriotism. Lol 🤣

Funnily enough seeing as this has bounced off of my comment about Newcastle..... Tonali chose root canal vibes. :dawsonlol:
