We have to see how it plays out.

Hahahaha..... My sentiment since June 1st... Welcome on board my man!

:ange-arms:

Maybe Japh goes Luton now and that opens a spot but Dier and Dav are the bigger contracts. It would seem more obvious that one of those needs to go in order to open a squad place.

If the log-jam is about squad places then I don't see that makes much of a difference.

(Besides; we could terminate Japh and it would piss away a trf fee of a few million and another 1.3m in contracted wages. To pay Dier off would cost 4.4m............ Literally the same potential cost to us as a club either way.)

The Porro/Doherty thing was a mess IIRC. They wanted to loan Doherty then realized they'd don eth max so had to release him. Not sure they should be working on replicating fuck ups as viable options.

The freebie wasn't by design, no... Nor was it my point to claim so.......... But it never the less illustrates that we were prepared to buy before the squad numbers were conclusively reconciled.... Which is the very thing you (and others) are doubting here.

"We have to see how it plays out."; indeed.

There is clearly a divide amongst the board about the striker situation.

Side 1: Stick with richy and son as striker options and upgrade on the wing if possible. A big part of this thinking is that the striker options on the market are not great and would be a small upgrade and pricey.

Side 2: Buy a striker to replace Kane and try to get more goals from this position.

Side 3: Buy lukaku.

While I am for the 1st option, I can understand option 2. I just don’t think there’s a clear improvement that is available and even though richy’s overall game is lacking, his strengths (pressing, box presence) are built well for this team. We might get a better goalscorer but if they are poor at pressing, then will it actually help us?

Because taking a guy that scores 20 goals per season on a different team and replacing a guy that scores 10, doesn’t necessarily mean you add 10 goals to the team. That 20 goal scorer could be taking chances away from others or not providing some other valuable qualities.

Option 3 is just a laugh. Look at the aging strikers that have been signed lately. Ronaldo, lukaku, Auba (shit for Woolwich and Barca and STILL signed by Chelsea), weghorst. All of them were probably net negative.

Good post in the main.

Option 1 is not an option. Again, if posters analyse. Richarlison (hardly prolific to say the least) gets injuries and will be expected to play a lot of games. If/when he gets injured then we have what? No chasing, no height, no anything. I would say no goals but I don't need to.

Option 2 is not about replacing the near irreplaceable as opposed to finding a striler who is likely to score goals, within Postecoglou,'s system, recognising it can't be at anywhere near the same level. A necessity as much as Doctor Necessitator (see The Man With Two Brains).

Option 3 is fallback in the absence of nothing. Old or not and on loan, it's better than having nothing.

We are a weird bunch on here and drift from complete arrogance to a sense of entotlement to plain and rank stupidity.

We won on Saturday, to a United team who guess what -l lacked a striker. Do we want to be in the same boat?

Fcuk me Myopic Magoos are in town right here in Tottenham ville.

What was looking like a promising start to the window has been on a steady slide downhill since Levy went on that tour.

VDV managing to come in and play every minute of the prem so far has made it better than ut could have been.

They really need to get some shit done this week to rescue it from becoming a farce.
How is it a farce?
  • We brought in Maddison.
  • We replaced Hugo.
  • We bought a promising partner for Romero.
  • Dav has shown he can be a serviceable backup in this system.
  • Perisic played in his correct position is a quality sub on the left.
  • Solomon is the tricky winger we need on the right.
  • Our midfield is exceptionally strong.
  • When you look at the bench there's quality there.
Is the jury still out on Richie? Yeah, it is, but Ange wants to stick with him, so that's good enough for me. Would it be nice to have another quality winger/forward that is a goal threat? Of course it would (and maybe Gil is just that - we don't really know). But has that prevented us from creating chances and scoring goals? No, it hasn't.

Would it be nice to have another cover CB that is better than Sanchez? Sure. Can we live without one until the next window? I think we can.

So how is all of the above a farce? Because we haven't signed enough players? This is a rebuild and we're not going to get all the pieces in one window. Even Ange said so himself. Nor do we need them given the amount of games we will have this season.

So let's have some perspective, people. It's a long process. If we get someone else in by the close of the window, great. If not, enjoy the progress we have made for now and let's re-evaluate in January and next summer.

CBA with you. You will just tell me I'm foolish again because we disagree.

Who is the bigger fool? The fool or the fool that spends time arguing with him on a football chat forum?
