Will our beloved bald cunt get Ange the much needed forward and CB? I highly doubt it. He will look at these results and that’s his excuse to do nothing. Just remember, Veliz isn’t ready so effectively we haven’t replaced Harry. Brilliant Ange having to work with 2 hands tied behind his back because this tight fisted bastard refuses to go that extra mile to push for success.
We should never ever have been in this situation to begin with...it's friggin Aug 27th and we still got shitloads of unshifted deadwood and a real need for a CB + CAM/Winger + CF.

And this is what we should be focusing on. We made 5 transfers, two of which are prospects and the other 3 are nailed on quality starters. How many windows do you remember where we signed 3 quality players that went straight into the starting XI?

Our recruitment has improved significantly, so I'd rather we continue down the path of signing quality players, rather than just signing players for the sake of it. If that means we don't sign anyone else this window, because we haven't identified a quality player, then so be it.
Completely agree. A quality back up CB is highly needed though. We are currently a Romero injury/ suspension away from being in trouble.

is this post genuine?

You asking what movement is better shows you haven't actually seen him play much. Johnson regularly gets himself into excellent goalscoring positions. His movement is so good that he is trusted to play up top as a lone striker and also just behind the striker.

Gil on the other hand rarely gets himself into decent positions to do damage. He looks like little boy lost positionally.

Also comparing johnson to Gil physically is absolutely laughable.

The only thing Gil is superior on is technical ability but i mean Lo Celso is also meant to be technically good but doesn't stop him going missing 9 times out of 10.

His movement is better because he plays a different position?

If you think Gil looks lost positionally, that's laughable. Even Conte praised his football IQ and understanding of where he needs to be and when he needs to be there.

Pace and opportunity are the only things Johnson has over Gil.

Footballers > sprinters.

Once teams learn to sit deep and counter against us (and they will); we'll need guile and intelligence in those areas not pace.

Grealish, Mahrez, Bernardo, Haaland.... With the exception of Foden; none of City's front line last season are particularly quick.
This is an interesting post actually, and one that I’ve debated back and forth on myself for a bit.

a) this is a disingenuous post about City considering that Pep started Leroy Sané and Raheem Sterling for their glory years - and more importantly, that they just signed Jeremy Doku who is the definition of a running quick winger. Madrid use Vinicius, Bayern Sane/Coman, etc, Scum use Saka/Martinelli etc

b) it does however get to the heart of the issue which is what profile is actually best for us. Son is very fast and gifted at getting in behind, but he isn’t really that quick (in short spaces) anymore and isn’t going by players 1v1 easily.

Grealish and Mahrez while lacking long pace are 1v1 takeon masters.

It seems to me that what we need is invention and the ability to both stretch a defense with pace and drive at the defense with skill and guile and make correct decisive actions.

C) I actually don’t know what our future matches and struggles will look like. Compact defenses can still leave gaps for players to run into in semi-transition: there will absolutely be space for Johnson’s pace and running to be used on a quick switch or on an overload with Sarr/Porro flanking him.

In short I think pace is secondary to 1v1 brilliance and that’s why Eze is my long term favored target for the wide areas, but that Johnson has the potential to be a weapon against parked busses and be much more than a runner for us

I doubt its £50m cash though - I suspect either Sanchez or Dier plus say £30m/£35m in payments including add ons ?

Depends also on Tosin coming in so that Dier or Sanchez can move to Notts Forest
It seems likely that after last season's ridiculous transfer splurge, Forest need to generate some pure profit for FFP reasons.

Selling Brennan Johnson is the same move the Boehly Chav Consortium are making: selling HG players to generate pure profit on the books.

If this is so, then surely Forest will not want us to include players in any transfer package, because this would reduce the amount of profit they can record in the accounts.

Whereas we are surely highly unlikely to pay £50 million in cash for Johnson, and will only do a deal if we can include players as part of the deal.

So this may come down to how desperate Forest are to sell Johnson.

No it isn't..... I clearly made reference to last season... I didn't claim that no good teams have ever had quick wingers.
