Ange has said he hates the idea of 6’s and 8’s, we are all (myself included) struggling to take him on his word.

What he wants is CMs that rotate to share responsibility. But then Maddison has more creative responsibilities further forward even if he has to drop and take the ball off the CBs vs the press.

I guess CM is just the most demanding role in this team along with FB so he wants plenty of them who can do it physically. It really wouldn’t be a shock if we went back for Gallagher now and he changed his mind after this fiasco
CM has always been the most demanding position to play in, it's why it's always referred to as the "engine room." The game has changed somewhat, in that you could also put FB's into the bracket of most demanding, but no matter how much the game changes, midfield will always be the engine room. Defenders defend, forwards attack, but midfielders are required to do both.

Especially in this system.

But honestly mate we are discussing this because none of us can work out what logic (if there fucking is any) the club are following in this window.

We are all trying to work out we are suddenly linked to 8’s who have been available all summer and wtf we are going to do now that Doue and Neto are off the table despite being our most consistent links.

I’m looking for positives but it smells of shit show in relation to the plan they actually had.

Also we need to get better at tactical fouling, a la Pep and Arteta.
100%. When we foul it is real last-ditch desperate stuff and an obvious booking, the ability to recognise a break is on almost before the oppo starts it requires a snide to the highest order. (BTW I want the powers that be to introduce either red cards for these types of fouls or introduce a new "orange" one which is a sin bin or something, as these tactical fouls ruin the spectacle of the game, they deny fans goals - but so long as the laws stay as they are then we need to perfect this art too).

No idea whats going on with Diaz, odd one for City but will give Liverpool the money to buy Gordon which in turn gives Newcastle a wedge. Just feel if we dont do something very soon we're going to be left doing the last minute desperate dash again for whatevers leftover.

It's suspiciously horribly random. Let's hope it's some 4D ninja business we can't fathom. But I think we both smell something a miss.

That's been the story of this window though mate, we don't know who are our main targets are, and the various links just muddy the waters.

It appears that we made an offer for Neto, but I wonder at the truth in that. Usually you see reports on terms agreed with the player etc, but I haven't seen anything like that with Neto. A quick Google search shows nothing other than speculative rumour, so I'm dubious about that.

It is very disappointing that we haven't completed our transfer business by now, but I do still think we'll have at least another signing brought in. I said that before we signed Solanke and I still think this is true.

What I won't do though is get angry about every link we have that I don't think is the right player. Firstly because I'm fully aware that 99% of them are clickbait bollox, and secondly because what I may think is the right player, is more likely than not not shared by the club.

I’m not reacting to links mate. I’m reacting to the fact that this was clearly not the plan for the window.

It’s starting to stink of panic because we couldn’t do the deal for our first choices.

I thought it's understood now that Ange speaks to the player and he needs to be convinced that they really want to join Spurs.

If he's had that conversation with Gallagher it has probably gone something like: "Sorry Ange but I'm chelsea scum through and through and my family would disown me if I joined so no thanks".

Why would this scenario have changed just because the Atleti deal has collapsed?

In all honesty, I think if we can't get our first choices, we actually aren't going to panic for the sake of it and clog up the squad with players just because.

It's already taken us years to get rid of the deadwood.
