Some leagues still have their transfer windows open. ie we can still offload Reguilon, I think!

Looking at the players still available on a free transfer I’m surprised we haven’t snapped 1 or 2 of them up.

Navas - 37 - GK - he would be ideal on a short term deal given Forster is only just back from injury and was abysmal the last time he played over a year ago.

Depay - 30 - forward - he’s still a decent player and would add both experience and depth that we’re currently missing in the forward positions.

Matip - 33 - centre back - he was decent enough at Liverpool and would also give us experience and depth in defence.

I know they’re both an ass but Rabiot and Martial are also still available.

Turkey 13 Sep. If he will go.

Can't see much truth in this rumour

Tottenham offered Yusuf Yazici – sources

Matthew Wilkinson

Man United and Tottenham are among numerous Premier League clubs in the race to sign Turkey international Yusuf Yazici.

The Premier League rivals have been offered the chance to sign Yazici, who is currently a free agent after his Lille deal expired in July.

I know it is just 3 games into the season, but I already feel that we can make simple conclusion - as so many times in the past, we ONCE AGAIN fell short in transfer market.

I said already before - yes, we certainly have to think about the future, so Bergvall deal is super nice and Gray seems to have potential. But come on - we needed more ready-made starters that help to progress right here, right now. Looking at our attacking players performance across that period, we are crying out for a player that can take decisionmaking on his shoulders.

We are looking at crazy run of games after international break. It's gonna be 7 games within 22 days (!!).
Are we really saying that there wouldn't have had room for more players, when we will have such runs.

One can always look narrowly at potential market value developement and technical skills and whatnot. But I would absolutely like to see transfer policy getting spiced up with adding some experienced players to the mix. It is not like there were none on the offer. Leon Goretzka from Bayern for example. Absolute monster of a CM. 189 cm, lots of power, high energy kind of player. At pretty much prime age (29), CL winner and all...

He wouldn't be the winger mentioned, but added immidiate quality to our midfield. I cannot name a good option for experienced winger right now (I know - Bayern was offering Coman who does have experience, incl scoring CL final winning goal; but he is always injured even in Bundesliga and with Bayern doctors), but surely there were also some options. But we hardly ever monitor such niche of players.

But to sum up - last summer we brought in Udogie, VDV, Vicario, Madders and Johnson. So FIVE starters. And now in 2024... ONE. That is not good enough and will inevitably result in falling short, getting disillusioned and best players looking around for other clubs. Players like Romero, VDV and Udogie for example... not good enough.

I'd leave this sort of stuff until you've got a sample size big enough to comment mate. You could have hit the nail on the head for all I know, but there's still that chance by the end of the season these players surprise us all

You know this how?

All I know is that we are now on 4 points out of 9 indeed.

I see no problem with discussing matters that have only started/are ongoing. Cause hindsight is always easy. We can all say that "oh this was so obvious" and "I always thought that" etc.

It can be that some players can surprise. And I hope they do too!

I always leave a few months before judging a transfer window mainly because the ones I thought we knocked it out of the park were absolute disaster 2019-2020. This transfer window does have the reliance on on Oldebert, Gray and Bergval showing their potential this year.

Who is starting the Jan 2025 transfer window thread? I think we are done here.

Summer 2025 should be interesting. Davies, Werner and Forster all go freeing up 3 spots. If it’s only the 3 we can throw some serious wedge at it.

There must be a CM to move on if Johnny Cardoso is to come in. Biss or Bent?

Realistically, our last hope for Reggie is Turkey, I suppose.

Slovenia and Liechtenstein windows close September 7.

Czech transfer window closes on September 8.

Switzerland, Romania and Cyprus are open until September 9.

Greece: September 11

Russia and Armenia: September 12.

September 13: Turkish transfer window closes on the same day as Serbia’s.

Azerbaijan: September 16

Israel: September 18.

Additionally, in France, clubs are still permitted to use one ‘joker’ transfer before the January window opens. However, there are certain conditions that have to be fulfilled, for example, this has to be a player from another French club. If a Premier League club wanted to sell a player to a French one, they would have to wait until January.
