The Califpriori post was a later post. My first post was a warning re persuing David and McKennie.
I‘m not having a sook I just don’t understand why people keep thinking we are a chance at getting Calafiori. It’s not happening so drop it.
I have seen David play a number of games and know he’s not good enough for the epl. Anyone who thinks he can make it in the epl with any team is as delusional as a Trump supporter who thinks Don is honest

Once Chelsea figure out how to get away with Cheating (again) it'll be like the wild west in the PL. Clubs like Newcastle, City, Vila and others will start doing what they like. Teams like Everton and Forest have owners with money but no income to validate spending.

Then there's us. 43% wage to income ratio. Strict adherence to FFP. Spend what you earn, at most.

Challenging for titles mate. FFP titles. Best financially run club titles. Winning at painfully slow organic growth titles. Best multipurpose entertainment arena that also hosts football titles.
Guess it depends on whether our owners are willing to bend the rules for success then?

Which we know they aren't.

Everton and forest tried to and hasn't worked, and don't have the pull Chelsea does due to location and past transgressions and now there in a mess for literally fuck all success.

I can't see us ever bridging the gap consistently without significantly cooking books to make our wages a non issue and unfortunately that's what it is.... Or being really smart and just getting it right for a few transfer windows on the trot

Levy will never, even bend the rules and pour any money into the club.
He's been banking on clubs being forced to be totally self sufficient since the day he turned up and figured he could easily grow the club organically to a point where we could match the richer clubs like United, Arse and Liverpool back then.

He was so wrong. It hasn't happened. It doesn't show any signs of stopping here or abroad either.
The fact neither City nor Chelsea have any kind of punishment whatsoever is probably keeping Levy awake. He's been waiting for this since Abramovic rocked up 20 years ago changing football and spoilt his plan.

You bridge the gap up upping the wage bill not by cheating because increasing the wage bill is more sustainable as opposed to over spending for a season then cutting back the next.

The question remains if we will do that.

Most of Son's GI came when he was playing as centre forward (probably less than 5 GI when playing LW), which is why it makes sense to try to upgrade the LW position with the best player we can get so as to increase GI from the left if we can do this window - in effect upgrading on Solomon, Gil and Perisic who were our options last season, whilst keeping the experienced Werner.

Have to disagree with this. Most of Son's G/A up front were in the beginning portion of the season when we were flying. Once teams had figured out how we play he was completely ineffective up front and only started performing again when he was moved back out to the wing, where he was generally very good.

IMO we need the main purchase to be a striker. Even if you rate Richy - which I don't - his injury record alone means he can't be relied on. If we can sell Richy to the Saudis and bring in two strikers all the better.

Son and Werner is fine rotation for LW for now until we can find a long term successor to Son. Kulu and Brennan isn't ideal for the right, and in an ideal world I'd like another option there too, but we all know how this club operates so I don't see that as likely. If it's only one addition this summer it has to be up top.

Son just being Son, I guess.

Statistically, he managed a goal or assist every 103 minutes when playing as a CF this season.

Whereas he managed a goal or assist every 124 minutes on the left.

What I found strange was Son tended to try and be a hold up guy when he was up front. Try and bring others into play. Instead of just being the man on the last line of defence. And Richy at times was the guy who would play on the last line when leading the line.

I get your point we probably can't match the likes of United, Liverpool n that. But we have significantly pulled away from the other pack consistently in that regard. Although new rivals seem to come and go each season.

He was wrong in that regard but right that we continue to remain in a position of strength to "attempt to try" (felt a good time to use this bullshit quote) but you know what I mean.

Jonathan David is an interesting one he is only 24, 101 goals in 206 club games, and 1 in 2 at International level, also is very quick, can play either side of a 3 or through the middle, can see why we are interested

Yeah of course but we would never do it at a loss like others.

For example ndombele wages again and again while one is on the books same with Lo Celso until we get it right.

Chelsea is a poor example because if they spend half of what they half well they would be right up there

He was quite hot property last season, linked with Woolwich and juve I think. Decent international journalists on podcasts were saying overpriced and not top level. Nothing he's done this year has changed that

Guirassy off the board he’s the most sensible pick up if we aren’t going down the road of Marquee #9. At least from the ones mentioned.

I’d take Marmoush first but he’s going to be expensive

BREAKING NEWS! Yet another imaginary transfer rumour

Tottenham back away from signing ‘dream’ midfielder after learning Chelsea are paying £19m for him

Tottenham Hotspur were forced out of the race to sign an exciting young midfielder this summer after Chelsea became involved.
Midfield is an area where Ange Postecoglou is looking to add to at Tottenham with the likes of Conor Gallagher having been strongly linked.

TBR Football understands that Aston Villa’s Omari Kellyman was of interest to Tottenham Hotspur, Brighton & Hove Albion and West Ham United.

Chelsea now look set to conclude a deal for the 18-year-old this summer with the midfielder having undergone his medical at Stamford Bridge.
Hopefully the CG links will now go away after a dreadful display last as well as his sub appearances. Ange basically countered his own argument of getting a player like CG by saying if you have 70% plus pocession then you need technical players. Wonder how he felt when CG was hooked at HT and mainoo did much better with the ball.
