Isn't that fee for Solanke including add ons? and Richarlison's fee isn't?

Well those 2nd and 3rd ones are kind of meaningless. 2nd because it shows gross spend not net. And the 3rd looks at total points, not points improvement. Under Ange, with a net spend of ~172M, we improved by 6 points vs previous year. Arteta in his first full year improved by 5 points on his previous half year, which in turn was 14 points worse than the year before.

I'm not sure what the point is... it's almost as if someone's just selecting stats to be divisive.

Anyway what they do show is that the club is backing the manager.

In attack it’s helpful to have different tools. Johnson is great against teams who leave space in behind, or when you’re winning, or against tiring legs. But against teams that are very compact or don’t leave much space then a different player is useful.

Tbh even v BM who had more of the ball and controlled the game in that first half he was pretty much anonymous. It’s not just against low blocks but teams who are better setup technically and hand strong FBs.

Yes it is, apart from the early part of last season, I found the football quite boring to watch.
Passing it around and getting nowhere, let's hope this year it's different.

Rumours were that they were in for him when he went to Barca - I was dreading them signing him as he was fantastic in the Prem for Leeds. Purely based on what we see on the pitch he'd be the perfect winger for us imv

Gross spend gives you a more rounded picture, I don't think it's irrelevant.

Just remembered that's I think the 3rd Summer in a row since they've missed out on their primary target, if I recall...

Caicedo, Lavia, Jude, Enzo, Camavinga, Tchouameni and now Zubi

And when I say missed out they pretty much had all those players in the bag and top tier journos said they were a done deal, it's actually a running joke on social media but seemingly on here it's okay though because they did some good transfers a few years ago, cool.

Trent out of contract next Summer, we'll monitor how that goes down as well...
