Honestly believe our business is done, big gamble relying on youngsters but, this is Tottenham run by a particular set of people.
I think the club will finish 7th, can't see without further additions anything more.

Who would you prefer in the rotation for CM?

Elite talents like Bergvall and Gray.

Or

A mercenary 28 year old who might be marginally more developed but in reality just there to plug gaps.

The scum just brought in Merino to plug gaps but he’s probably not much better than GLC.
I’d be fuming if we had someone like that taking minutes off Gray and Bergvall.

If MGW or even that Gomes guy was on the table then I can see them fitting the squad build long term and it would be ruthless on the younguns but I could get behind it. They clearly weren’t on the table though.

Obviously Ange being Ange here and having a bit of fun with the reporter but it sounds to me like he's also happy with the transfers that have been done and it will be opportunity-based if we go again. Maybe I'm reading too much between the lines but he's usually more guarded than that when he's expecting an imminent incoming.

Weird take from that clip.

He said it doesn't feel like we've spent a lot (in comparison) and then references Solanke and a "couple of 18 year olds and a 19 year old".

That to me suggests he still feels there is room to do more but it's obviously out of his hands.

The two young talents we are great but, they are for the future and don't have the consistency yet.
Big gamble if the club are pursuing a European place, and hoping, placing that responsibility on them.

It’s more about his mood than the actual words.

When he’s expecting a player coming in, he’s usually guarded and careful with what he says. Even if he says he still expects things to happen.

If he’s joking and lighthearted it’s telling me he’s comfortable with what’s been done and nothing is imminent. Whatever happens, happens vibes.

Obviously it’s a massive guess from me on a short clip and I thought his quotes on Biss meant he wasn’t starting again for a while, so what the fuck do I know?

Yes, net transfer spend is well down on the average of the last 4 years (112M/year) and that's before taking salary savings into account. So there could be room for one more incoming. Europa squad numbers / lack of HG notwithstanding.

But no europe last season, so revenues will be well down, and therefore less money to finance the 'net transfer spend'.

I think if the right player is available in a position which we want to upgrade, we will buy or loan in another player - but if not we'll keep our power dry.

Worth remembering that with a shortage of 3 Club trained players our squad is capped at 22 players plus List B players (basically HG players who have been at Spurs for 2 or more years) and even assuming Lo Celso, Reguilon and Solomon move on we already have 23 (one more than we are permitted) and I'm not sure we want to move any more out. So its likely we go with a squad of 22 for EL but use the looser PL rules to have a squad of 23 or 24 players for PL and domestic cups.

Absolute must:

- Player who can cover LCB and LB, a sort of Ben Davies with much greater athleticism.

Ideally need:

- Another winger of Odoberts profile so we have two wingers that fit the Ange system directly.

Be nice:

- Pittbull Kante style midfielder who can press like a madman.
- replacement for Forster in GK.

Not as much of a gamble if they are in the rotation to keep Biss and Maddison fresh then picking up starts in Europa and Cups.

We have Bentancur as a veteran in the rotation as well. Kulusevski is clearly an AM for us now as well. We haven’t done like for like midfield signings but we definitely come out of the window with more depth in terms of players who can play the way we want in there.

If people wanted us to be replacing Hojberg with Locatelli or Ugarte then I get what they are saying but neither of those are really massive upgrades on Bissouma or Bentancur so all they’d end up doing is getting in the way of Gray and Bergvalls development minutes in the rotation.

Fwiw, I’m buzzing to see both Bergvall and Gray start in the prem, I think both look more than ready.

I don't see how we fit another winger in, particularly if we want to give Moore minutes.
