The trust instead of pursuing TV coverage should be lobbying the Government on fans returning to the stadium. As a non season ticket holder I will not personally benefit but those season ticket holders that want to go should be able to do so from 12th Sept rather than October. What reason is there for the delay? I accept there will be reduced capacity but keep lobbying for it to go up if proved safe. Watching Football being played in empty stadiums is not the same and the loss of income is not sustainable for the whole season.
They have. 🤦‍♂️

Have they achieved anything though?

I see no indication that the board want to connect with the fans or hear opinions contrary to ‘what makes the most money’

I think supporters trust influence is waning over time, less and less clubs give a shit.
They do a lot of the boring stuff like helping to make sure the club liases to get fans to aways games, European trips, disabled acccess to the stadium. There was a lot of stuff with the new stadium.

I don't know if they are the best run supporters trust around, but there's only so much they'll get from the club, who don't have to do anything for them in reality, and probably wouldn't if it wasn't for the negative publicity.

You get some loony fans going, "Why don't they demand Levy make some signings?" Because Levy would tell them go f-off and stop attending the meetings if they did. Some people live in La-La Land, really.

THST News for September 2020

Dear John,
As we hurtle full-speed into Autumn, here's a summary of our work on your behalf over the last month.

September had some remarkable highs for Spurs fans; notably the long-awaited return of Gareth Bale, and some remarkable lows; notably the further delay in allowing supporters back inside grounds.

We've worked hard to keep on top of all the issues connected with the phased return of fans including THFC's request for Photo ID and Name Amnesty for Season Ticket holders, and ongoing broadcast coverage for the 2020-21 season across all competitions. We've also been in touch with the Club around future catering and stewarding plans, all of which is covered in this edition of THST News.

When we were drawn against LOFC in the third round of the Carabao Cup, we teamed up with our friends at Leyton Orient Fans' Trust to raise over £10,000 for the Justin Edinburgh 3 Foundation, and we continue to fundraise for our nominated charities, Prostate Cancer UK and Studio 306 Collective through donations for vintage Spurs programmes. More on that, and how to get involved, in the newsletter.

There's an update on how we'll continue to support local non-league Clubs this season, and some news on the first steps to creating an independent, democratic fan organisation for the Women's team at Tottenham Hotspur.
We're also delighted that so many of you have now registered for our Forum. For those yet to sign up, you can do so here. Join the conversation today!

We hope you find our September summary of Trust activity informative.

Many thanks for your continued support.

Your questions, please...

Dear John,

Representatives of the Trust Board are due to meet with the Club Board and Senior THFC Executives via video conference on the evening of Tuesday 1 December. We are inviting questions from members so should you have any burning issues you’d like raising, please be sure to email us on [email protected] by 5pm on Friday 27 November.

We maintain dialogue on a wide range of issues with the Club on a day-to-day basis, so we won’t be replicating the detailed discussion we have on those matters at this meeting. Our meetings with the Club Board provide the chance to address overarching policy issues with the people who make the ultimate decisions and, if used properly, can be a good way of communicating with supporters.

These have been an extraordinary few months so we’ll be keen to discuss the short and long term impact of COVID-19 on the Club and their plans for a return of fans as priorities, as well as understanding more about the role and purpose of the new football board in relation to the business board at THFC and, of course, the Club’s response to the Project Big Picture revelations.

We are limited to 90 minutes for this meeting so need to keep focused, however we’ll be sure to collate all questions submitted into a dossier for the Club and we’ll use your questions to shape the themes for the session.

As always, we’ll report back as soon as we possibly can after the meeting.

We look forward to hearing from you.

By boring stuff im sure you mean important stuff

Football Supporters’ Association VAR survey findings
From the newsletter:

Of the 33,000 fans who replied, 95% who had experienced VAR in stadiums and 94% of those who watched on TV said VAR made watching the game less enjoyable. Four in 10 of those who responded said they would be likely to attend fewer games in future because of VAR.

That’s quite the indictment of the system isn’t it!

I think VAR in the Euros is much less intrusive on the game - it's just our officials / refs that have cocked it up so much

One thing I really like is the approach of giving a yellow in order to allow for a subsequent review, rather than making a hasty grab for a red.
