Match The Bodø Affair: The Mighty Tottenham vs Bodø/Glimt of Nordland - 2000hrs 1st May 2025 - UEFA Europa League Semi Final Leg 1

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

People are over analysing last night and I wanna smack all your heads together.

It was a decent routine win which puts us one foot in the final.

Does it make us world beaters? No.

Is it a vindication of Anges ideals? No. If anything it's annoying we don't play this way more often. We know he'll revert to type in our next league game.

Is the Europa League easier to win now than before without CL dropouts? Undoubtedly. But who cares?

Will anyone care in 20 years time that we beat Bodø in a semi and not Ajax? No.

Just enjoy it for what it is.

I'm pretty sure we'd play this way very often if we played Bodo Glimt missing six starting players every single week.

Question for people: If we'd put in this exact performance at Anfield next week, do people think it would have made much difference? Or do you think that the vast difference in quality of opposition was the main reason we played "well" here ????

The atmosphere/fans were amazing and credit to the team for doing the job, but I don't think it'll be a question of us reverting to type next game, it will just be the case that West Ham probably have individual players worth more than Bodo's entire squad.

I don't think it was a foul tbf. I was surprised a European referee didn't give it (they fucking love fouls) but it was basically 50/50 physicality.

I did think our penalty was hilarious nonsense, but wasn't surprised because European refs.

Not just European refs who pay that penalty.

Has everyone completely forgotten the penalty against Southampton that led to the Conte meltdown?

It's a ridiculous penalty but it's paid 💯 all the time. Jaynola Jaynola and his fictitious Swiss ref mate are talking absolute bollocks

They've won all their home Europa league games this season. All bar 1, by 2 or more goals.
They've also won 37 of the 39 home ties in Europe in the last few season.
With our propensity to self destruct, a 2 goal lead going over there feels like starting the game at 0-0
I think we will be alright. They need to attack us from the off, they will leave gaps and I didn't think there defending was much cop - we should have scored more last night but, messed up countless good situations.

Letter of complaint winging its way to UEFA as we speak...

Gotta say that the atmosphere around the bars at half time last night was absolutely incredible - best I've seen in many, many years. Felt like a party... and we were only 2-0 up.

However, and this is a general issue I'm seeing in modern football, it took a lot of energy out of the stadium itself just after half time with people late coming back to their seats (or heading off early) and I do think we struggled to regain that intensity until the penalty went in.

I wish the hospitality team would do a bit more work preparing drinks in advance for half time so that people can get back out quickly.
