Competition The Race for 4th

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Helped massively by a red card & moment of madness. Newcastle were the better side.

And Liverpool also beat us away. We fold in these big away matches and have done for years.
As I've been saying for weeks. Newcastle are crap. They dive, cheat, time waste and play for a draw, which is all they usually get.
We can beat them.
We might not. But we can. We should have won against them at home, it was literally 2 standard Spurs brain farts that let them score. If it wasn't for 2 early mistakes, we'd have beaten Liverpool too.
If we put out a consistent defence for the rest of the season, stop changing it and experimenting, we stand a chance of being more consistent.
We've actually kept 6 clean sheets in 2023. There are still brainsharts but we're doing it less and less.
If we could get Dier to tackle, or drop him for Sanchez and get him to tackle. we could be ok.

Liverpool didn't look to great last night but they are capable of putting together a run, I think that's who we have to worry about, not sure if Newcastle have enough.

They are capable, but then so are we, we proved that last season by getting top 4, granted with a helping hand from the gooners bottling it! If we can get a result against the Chavs on Sunday then I think we will get top 4.

Yeah, as middling as we are, it's mad that in a midfield injury crisis our three fit remaining midfielders would get serious minutes in that Liverpool side if available to Klopp this season. Keita, Thiago, Fabinho, Henderson, Chamberlain are just not able to cover ground with the intensity that Klopp's style of football requires. Still think it will be close between us, Newcastle and Liverpool.. we've not really done anything to suggest that we can pull away.
I was confident pre-Bentancur injury, I think we would have went on a good run but that's such a massive blow.

Still fancy us to do it but it will go down to the wire.

If my uncle had a fanny he'd be my aunt.

Brainfarts is just what we do in big games.

Losses against Chelsea, Liverpool and United are almost guaranteed. Best we could do it draw all 3. I'd take that now if offered.

We are flat track bullies.

Agree Newcastle are shit though. Wouldn't be surprised to beat them away.

It's more likely that he'd be an hermaphrodite.

But that doesn't get us very far against Newcastle, does it? My penises are firmly crossed for a win.

From 2024/25 PL will get an extra CL place - so Top 5 get into CL.

So if we get into CL next season it'll be 'easier' to keep getting into CL in the future, even though PL might well have more Sportswashing teams as competition.

I don't think qualifying for CL is an end in itself, but getting it allows Spurs to maximise revenue streams which in turn allow us to recruit better players (a) playing in CL is attractive to players we want to recruit and (b) bigger revenues means its easier to both buy better players and to pay their wages ...... provided we can avoid more Ndombele's through better recruitment that helps.

My guess is that when financial results for this season (Y/e 30 June 2023) are published (with a full season of football in the stadium plus revenues from 16 non football events and other revenues) we will have PL's 4th highest revenues - after ManCity, ManU and Liverpool so there's something to build on going forward.

We're not the only team that could finish above Newcastle though, that's the point. They're not top 4 quality.

In good shape here. Have a lot of winnable fixtures coming up.

A Wolves
H Forest
A Soton
A Everton
H Brighton
H Bournemouth

Before a tough 3 of
A Newcastle
H United
A liverpool

Need to string together wins in these next 6.
