It makes you wonder exactly how serious we really were about getting MGW in.

Because at the moment, it seems they weren't serious at all. If you go for a player like that, then you'll have a backup plan if you don't get him and then a backup plan for that as well.

Unless our entire scouting department can only focus on one player at a time and then they go back to the beginning of a 6 month process to find the next one.

Hasn’t his release clause now expired. We’d have to get Palace to agree to selling him which means closer to £80m now. In fact I am pretty sure that (a) Palace will not sell him now and he’s off to Woolwich next summer, and (b) even if we make Palace an offer they cannot refuse the player won’t want to come anyway as his heart is set on Woolwich next summer.

I mean, it's not even that is it? The story is that Crystal Palace think that we will be interested, so we're now an even further step removed from the usual monitoring and considering shit, other clubs are monitoring us for their players!
