Agreed. The only player I absolutely wanted out was Werner. I do think Son these days and Johnson are more bench quality players, but I'd want to keep the rest under Frank. Need a RW/RF as a priority IMOI was really unimpressed with Bissouma's last two seasons, but I'd be willing to give him some time under Frank, as he bossed a lot of the games I saw him play for Brighton and there is something there for sure, He hasn't really earned it but I like a good story arc.
I buck the trend and actually rate Johnson for who he is - and he, if deployed correctly as you said, can have a big impact.
Same goes for the most part for everyone. I don't think people can have it both ways - and that isn't to say we don't need reinforcements but i think writing players off when you feel the manager was the biggest issue is a bit absurd.
I like him but agree we overpaid. Also think we overpaid for Gray.If Solanke had a few years of numbers backing up that fee fair enough, for me £65m for a striker who had only ever hit double figures in the championship prior to his 19 in 38 season with Bournemouth is absurd, regardless of English tax. For what he's contributed so far I can't escape the feeling if our scouting was more on point for first team players last summer we could have found a similar player at much better value on the European market. As you say it's the price of PL experience but Solanke is not the type of special player worth that kind of outlay and never will be, even though I think he can (and will have to be, considering the fee) useful for us over the next couple of seasons.

He's on 250k a week and forced a move out of Napoli by falling out with everyone in the club. How are so few talking about Osimhen when his contract is up at the end of the month?
Edit - so few as in teams, not us Spurs fans.

Reading loads of thoughts like this and you can call me a contrarian but I really hope the club aren’t thinking this way with the squad build,
It can sound cool and buzz wordy to say Frank is flexible and tactically adaptable but he’s also just a coach and we’ve seen how long those last at this club.
If this idea is shared by the club that they can just sign the best deal because Frank is adaptable enough to make it work, the most likely outcome with the history of this club is that we sack him in 18 months and we’re left with a hodge podge mish mash nothing of a squad that fits nobody

It's a seller's market where strikers are concerned of course, I question whether we could have gone out and got a player like Jonathan David for half the amount with a year left to run on his contract, and still think we could do worse than trying to compete for his signature on a free transfer this month. Certainly has goals in him and looks to be a lot more reliable than Richarlison for availability. 9 goals in 14 CL games says it's not just the French league he excels in.It was his release clause so we had to pay to get him out of Bournemouth, more fool us that we paid it (depending on how you want to look at things I guess)
Nevertheless that is the striker market, you pay a premium for a decent striker, he'd just come off a hot year with Bournemouth so his stock was high, not really anything to do with the English tax, it's literally the market e.g Havertz, Nunez, Hoylund, Jackson - all signed for high fees and they're all pretty much meh.
Ange wanted him anyway so was kinda pointless scouting another player, especially as it's probably the hardest position to fulfill in the Premier League.

We seem to be linked to so many wingers and Centre Backs. We will end up with ten wingers and eight CB's.Mbuemo may well be a fantastic signing (although I’m personally unconvinced), but is a right sided attacker, that replaces our top scorer, really the most imminent need this squad has?
Why aren’t we being linked with a defensive midfielder who has legs and eyes that work?
If he was telling the whole truth and identified guys like Johnson, Solanke and Dragusin as good fits for his system it does speak a lot to how out of his depth he was in that area at this level tbh. I don't think any of them are bad players but all terrible fits for what he was trying to build with us. Agree we could've certainly done worse than Solanke and think he will show more this season especially as I see a lot of crossover between him and Toney in terms of attributes. But then you wouldn't be backing the manage if we did that.
Imagine if we went out and got the 'cheap option' as opposed to getting the managers no1 pick?...
At the end of the day we just have to wear it, Frank will get more use out of Solanke anyways...we could have done a lot worse last Summer.
Free transfer though. Even we could figure out a way to fudge those figures. He's on 250k a week and forced a move out of Napoli by falling out with everyone in the club.
He's an absolute certainty to end up in Saudi on 500k a week. European teams may enquire about him but they'll be quickly put off

Done to death at this point sure you would agree.
He doesn't really feel like a Frank rebuild kinda player.Free transfer though. Even we could figure out a way to fudge those figures.
Heck, we could sign him for free on higher than average wages and flog him in a year for a profit.
i know
The simple solution for me is to upgrade Bissouma with a proper 6. Wharton and Baleba would be the dream but imagine we'll find someone cheaper. If we don't do that and have the same midfielders next season then the club has failed to address a very obvious issue.
I definitely would like to see Romero moved on but he is easily 60-70 million defenderRomero for £40-50m with 2 years left. Better to
Let him run down his contract. There isnt value in £40m for Romero.
I think the question you ask yourself is whether you're getting two great seasons out of Romero as a leader and core player, or are you getting a guy whose focus is on the World Cup that whole time?Romero for £40-50m with 2 years left. Better to
