Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Ramsey is a good player to be fair. Decent technically and a powerful ball carrier, links well with players around him. Injuries would be the concern. Similar attributes to Bergvall imo.

Kudus would be a shocking signing though. No football brain, very selfish and not actually that good.

Bit depressing at the moment. Eze to Woolwich probably, Romero looking to leave. Think next season could be a real struggle again.

Don't shoot the messenger, but this is what my mate at the papers is hearing rumblings of

Son to USA.
New contract for Romero. Will be captain and our higher paid player (more than Kane).
New contract Bentancur.
Seymenyo or Kudas preferred over Eze. Eze to expensive since we already have Mads and Kulu.
Dragusin wants first team. If Romero stays, he's gone.

Defense of the top priority. Don't be surprised if we start playing some very defensive football in preseason.

Levy wants to win the premier league this season.
I was with you, up until your last point. Now that simply undermines everything else that you said ;)

It’s pretty clear now that Ange wasn’t sacked for winning the EL, he was sacked for realizing that winning trophies isn’t part of the model.

As soon as he started talking about wanting to win more and needing experienced players, he was toast.

The more time passes since he was moved on, the more it looks likely that he was managing against the club to win that EL.
Yeah nothing to do with being shite at his job, having a god awful system, finishing 17th with 22 defeats, nearly losing to Coventry & Tamworth, being an arrogant prick who had many gos at the fans...

So you didn't read any of what I just wrote, then? The part about accounting etc. no?

Llorente was £12m. It wasn't big money then and then was 8 years ago.
we don't have a blanket ban on older players, but we absolutely do favour players 25 and under.

Our top 10 largest fees.
1) Solanke - 26
2) Ndombele - 22
3) Richarlison - 25
4) Johnson - 22
5) Romero - 24
6) Maddison - 26
7) Sanchez - 21
8) Gray - 18
9) Porro - 23
10) Van De Ven - 22

2 out of 10 over 25 at the time of signing.

Even if I keep going to 20, you get Sissoko and Soldado as the only 2 over 25.
4 players out of the 20 most expensive we've signed over the age of 25

This is not an accident. It doesn't mean we are a selling club or looking to sell. It means a creative account can say those players are worth X amount and put them down as an asset, which is a positive.
A player nearing the end of their contract, especially of a certain age cannot be classed as an asset.
That is important. Assets Vs Liabilities are used for all sorts and you always want more assets than liabilities.

How many of the most expensive transfers in football over 30?

It is absolutely logical that the most expensive players are those with a good few years of value left in them. For any team.

Kudus RW under Frank would be interesting, could see him really kicking on under the right manager and at a better club.

Ramsey however would be a completely pointless signing hes an 8/10 hybrid who can also play left, there’s way better out there on the market who can play these roles. If it’s not going to be Eze then we should be all over Simons.

Kudus + eze/simons is genuinely exciting and would show were actually serious about pushing on

Kudus + ramsey would be a typical spurs half hearted transfer window.

Fair play to Levy. He made it look really easy to take us from a top 2-4 team under Poch, to a 17th position team 6 years later. From all the transfer gossip I'm seeing, Levy's ambitions now are to see if we can finish mid-table, with a squad that is fit for 17th. I guess that's why he went for Frank, a guy who appears to be able to get a mid-table performance out of a low-table squad.

Won't cost much money this summer to get the squad that Levy thinks Frank can work with. Genius Levy strikes again - and he's untouchable.

I really hope that everything that I've just written turns out to be nonsense, but sadly, we've been underwhelmed by so many signings, either by who they are or how they turned out, that I'll be amazed if I'm thrilled, 12 months from now.

Your stamina for posting this shit is incredible honestly.

Kudus + Eze/Simons. …. Forget it. Never with these owners.

What would kicking on look like for Kudus?

I liked him before west ham but his best season was 17 goals and assists and it’s tough to see him ever going above that. He’s shown himself to be a knucklehead in the PL and the trajectory looks downhill as opposed to primed for a breakout imo.

If he was even top 5 of the initial list, I’d be shocked

No dickheads…

Except Kudus because they have FFP issues so we can afford him.

Btw LeParisien LeParisien Frank having a no dickheads policy, and Spurs making his first signing one of the biggest dickheads in the premier league???

That my friend, is gloriously ironic. The type of succulent irony that only Tottenham Hotspur can serve up.
Frank could easily say “no”. We’re not buying anyone he doesn’t want.

Stylistically he’s a great fit. Left-footed winger who prefers to play on the right. Versatile. Prem proven. More successful dribbles than any other player over the past two years.

Out of interest, is the dickhead thing based on anything more than his red card against us?

Sure.

Man United - 4/10
Liverpool - 1/10
City 1/10
Arse - 3/10
Chelsea 1/10*
Newcastle 1/10
Villa 3/10

*Chelsea are skewed beyond logic by volume of signings and how many of them are young. They have a list of Eur 40m+ players going all the way down to 27th spot.
None of their top 10 are teenagers. Neither are United, Liverpool, City or Arses. Only Spurs, Newcastle and Villa "boast" teenagers in their top 10 highest fees.

I can't be bothered to go in to the stats, but if you filtered down the signings over 25 for each of those teams, I bet we're spending the least on fees by far overall. There will be a few in there like Solanke and Madison, but they will be offset by the rest all being fairly cheap. It's probably why Eze is becoming less likely too.

I don't mean to sound like CuntyMccuntFace btw. I read it back and realise it came across that way.
