It didn't, but the team was "set up" to have him pumping in goals from cutbacks into the box and the like.

I dunno, I'm very much hedging my bets on the viability of Solanke as starting number 9. Could go either way.

Well if that were true then we didn't see that on the pitch, he spent an incredible amount of time not in the area where those goals are meant to come from.

This guy looks quality 👌👌 maybe snap him up but arrives in 1 yr, so deferred payments & allows him to ripen with another full season under his belt.

Solanke's role is to press a lot and act as a focal point - and the plan was to share the goals which worked. That's why Spurs were amongst the highest goal scorers last season.

The real problem for Solanke was (i) not getting regular rest and rotation whilst pressing a lot to help team so he's often tired hence will not be prolific (2) Not getting enough chances made for him, we didn't have enough creativity........ Solve the creativity problem and not have Solanke pressing enough and he'll score more goals.

Richarlison's problem was mainly not being fit enough - BUT he's never been a high scorer. His 'talent' is being a busy pest - that's the skill Conte bought him for. If he's fit enough to play more he'll probably score more goals but he'll never be a high scorer

BTW, having a £60m price tag has never guaranteed a high number of goals being scored.
Very true. A fit Richie and Solanke under Frank could I think be very very effective. A fit Richie is a bit unlikely tho.

But under Ange it was all out attack so attacking stats and goals overall were good, but overall balance of the team meant defence really suffered and we were easily beaten on turnovers.

nah massive myth that got repeated over and over until people took it as fact. Usually started by those that hate certain players like Johnson, claiming he only scored as much because we were overly attacking team that scored tons of goals. when in fact we scored about as much as we usually do, if anything we scored less last season than we usually do and with below average chance creation

64 goals last season
74 goals 23/24
70 goals 22/23
69 goals 21/22
68 goals 20/21

got to go back to 19/20 for a worse goal scoring season

We were awful in possession at times last year.

Who knows. Not our problem anymore.
