Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Levy has 100% planted it with a fake approach to Rodrygo to get the heat off the Gibbs-White story.

Well “try” and then he’ll turn us down or just get sold to a bigger club after we lay the groundwork. Seen it a million times under the Bald One.

We’ll end up with Palhinha on loan and maybe a cut price deal for some player we haven’t been linked to yet.

It’s all so boring for anyone who pays attention and has even a modicum of critical thinking.

How does being linked with a high profile player and not getting them do anything to appease fans as opposed to making people even more frustrated and annoyed

I don’t believe it, but you see the way social media aggregators work. Pretty soon it’s all over the place that “we’re in for Rodrygo” and the more casual fan who’s not as obsessed by the transfer grind as the people who post in this thread just sees that.

So whos designed it to keep people dreaming then?

your post heavily implies this is some kind of rouse put on by the club?

You have to evaluate Lange based on what he does with the budget he has, not what other teams have. Spurs were in with a chance on Morgan Gibbs-White and ran up against a strange situation. I think the money that would have been spent on him will be deployed before the end of the window, but not necessarily on the same position or even all on one player. Gibbs-White would have been an impactful player and the question is whether another difference making type player is out there Spurs can close a deal with. If there isn't, maybe the best outcome for this window is to get the best #6 available and keep some flexibility for the winter window.
It will be deployed on more builders to shorten the timeline on the new flats...

That would take Levy 3 years to do
That’s part of the problem.

Take Ndombele at Spurs, for example. After his first season, it was clear things weren’t working out. Instead of cutting our losses, we kept him on for another year. That season started off okay, but halfway through, the team’s form dropped dramatically.

Then came three different managers, all handed the same problem: trying to make Ndombele work. Two of them ended up loaning him out. If we had moved him on earlier, we might have recovered some of the transfer fee. Instead, we held on too long and eventually released him for free.

The same pattern seems to be repeating with players like Bryan Gil, Richarlison, and Bissouma. We invest heavily, ignore early warning signs, and then struggle to offload them when things don’t pan out.

It’s gonna be Pauline on loan plus some random youngster from somewhere like Belgium that we saw when watching Vuskovic last season.

Our only hope of not falling further behind is a couple of our youngsters do a Bale/Dele/Kane and turn into world beaters

This is honestly the ramblings of an insane person.

It makes no logical sense, no matter what way you look at it.

Corrected your list.
UCL Squad of 21 can consist of maximum 21 Association Players + 0 HNG, 20 Assoc + 1 NHG, 19 + 2, 18 + 3 etc down to 4 +17 NHG. 17 is the maximum NHG players allowed.

Club Trained (1)
Austin
Association Trained (6) (maximum 21)
Spence, Davies, Gray, Maddison, Johnson, Solanke

NHG (23) (maximum 17)
Vicario, Kinsky
Porro, Udogie, Romero, VDV, Danso, Dragusin, Vuskovic, Takai
Bissouma, Bentancur, Sarr, Kulusevski, Bergvall
Kudus, Yang, Gil, Solomon, Odobert, Tel
Son, Richarlison

List B - Lankshear, Devine and Scarlett and most of the Academy players.

Current squad is 6 HG and 23 NHG =29.
Maximum allowed is 21.

So at least 8 players need to be chopped from NHG list.
Or potentially 7 NHG and Davies.
I can't see any other of the association players being left out.

I looked at UEFA site, and it confirms, a minimum of 8 home grown, of which 4 is the max association trained.

In the UEFA Champions League, each club can register a maximum of 25 players on List A, including at least two goalkeepers. A minimum of eight of these players must be "locally trained". These locally trained players are further divided into "club-trained" and "association-trained" players, with a maximum of four "association-trained" players allowed among the eight. A club can also register an unlimited number of players on List B, provided they meet certain age and eligibility criteria
