Only once I ever bought one was for a midweek game v the blades and Berba's 1st goal for us....can't say the pillar/stanchion was that much of a problem.My old man got tickets for qpr v tottenham in 90s in our end. On the ticket it said 'diabolical view'. Massive pillar in way of pitch.
Sorry but that is such conjecture it's unreal, by what metric is Klinsmann a better signing than Son, Bale, Modric? Son is a club legend who gave us 10 years of outstanding service, Modric is a Ballon D'or winner and Bale's last season as a permanent Tottenham Hotspur player will be remembered for decades by Tottenham fans as one of the most scintillating displays of individual dominance in our entire history. Klinsmann was at best a Van Der Vaart, Ginola level signing, we finished 7th and won nothing in his 1 permanent season here, yes he bagged 30 goals but immediately left for Bayern when they came calling, all we were to him was an opportunity to bag himself a late-career renaissance after a poor last season at Monaco.
You're moving the goal post you melt. It's the fact that he was one of the biggest names in football at the time, and an owner very much maligned, was able to get him. How he behaved/performed has no bearing and they're talking about the ambition.

My point was about at the time of signing , attracting the biggest players . As I have said above Modric , Bale and Son dwarf Klinsman in their importance to Spurs . None of them however were a big name signing at the time
We got him for £2m off Monaco, he had struggled there in his last season, was 29 and had a bad injury the year prior, they finished 9th in Ligue 1, we made more money selling Vinny Samways in the same window. Anyone who thinks that was a big money superstar signing is kidding themselves, it was an opportunistic punt that worked out very well, we finished 15th in 93/94, if he was such a global superstar he would not have been coming to us.
This window has been an unmitigated shambles up til this point and I don't care , you are on the payroll in my mind if you disagree with this assessment
Van Der Vaart came from RM and scored 15 goals from 36 games from midfield in his first season, including playing for us in the CL, it's a signing at least on par with Klinsmann IMO. 109 caps for the Netherlands when they were still a very good team, he was a star to the same degree.
Again, he was one of the biggest names at the time, just came off a world cup scoring 5 goals.
Love Rafa , he was never a global superstar like Klinsman was .

He was a player of a global reputation/technical level no one would have expected to be seeing plying his trade in England.
