Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Getting the vibe that the formation isn't going to be as important as the personal.

Think Frank is going to have at least 6 defensive players on the pitch at all times. So if it's 4 at the back, i think we're going to have at least 2 holding/defensive mids.
If so then he’s statement about front football and so on was t quiet accurate

One week until we face PSG in the UEFA Super Cup and we are still behaving like a small ambitionless midtable club.

Had the MGW deal completed, we would be the 2nd biggest spending club in this transfer window.

1 Woolwich FC Woolwich FC €224.20m 12 €8.00m 8 €-216.20m
2 Real Madrid Real Madrid €167.50m 7 €2.00m 5 €-165.50m
3 Liverpool FC Liverpool FC €308.68m 14 €143.30m 8 €-165.38m
4 Manchester United Manchester United €153.20m 11 - 6 €-153.20m
5 Manchester City Manchester City €176.90m 13 €33.00m 6 €-143.90m
6 Tottenham Hotspur Tottenham Hotspur €145.60m 14 €13.50m 9 €-132.10m
7 Chelsea FC Chelsea FC €279.65m 23 €151.60m 12 €-128.05m

Getting a no10 thats remotely good enough for the opposition we will face in the pl and cl is going to be very difficult. Another young player is going to really struggle to come in and have an impact with alot of pressure on their shoulders to perform.
The obvious workaround would be to play a midfield 3 who are more about energy and workmanlike to overpower teams and then look to get a wide player who's more creative.

From this sense I could see a reason for Gallagher. Hes a chav thats already turned us down but the guy has a great engine, can score arriving into the box and would make us even more difficult to breakdown. But we would need another creative wide player to depend on.

I think frank will try to approach this project just as he did brentford In the pl but with a squad that has a higher floor and higher ceiling in time.

First season being rock solid and concede as few as possible. Then develop and add layers from there and developing young attacking players.

Let's be honest with a solid defensive setup with our personal along with say palhinha, Gallagher and bergvall is going to be pretty tough to get through especially if we vastly improve set pieces.

Looking forward to a couple of deals by the weekend , not claiming to be ITK but I have a very close friend who works in the industry. Anyway he is adamant that serious finance has been put in place to allow us to compete with Galliard Homes and Barratt Development

He has never steered me wrong before , so chins up lads . Fuck Galliard and Barratt
Fuck em all

Fuck em all

Galliard , Barratt, Lovell , coz we are the Tottenham and we build the best , we are the Tottenham so fuck all the rest

Good to know . I will tell my wife that had I bought her a diamond necklace for our anniversary she would have got a really nice present and I hope she liked the toothbrush instead

EDIT: I just told her, has anyone got a sofa I could crash on for a couple of weeks ?

Nothing like investment into bricks and mortar, the only way for sustainable long term growth and success.

Been told by a mate in the press that there seems to be a lot of activity going on in the background, lots of talk about some serious cash being invested very soon. We'll blow all our rivals out of the water, just trust the process.

There is nothing to indicate that the money won't be spent on another player. There are still a few weeks to go in the window, and waiting for the right player may be better than a knee jerk signing.

Before the first international break (and the close of the transfer windows), Spurs play Burnley, City and Bournemouth. Do Spurs have a good enough squad to deal with those fixtures, or do they urgently need to get a player in? Spurs are missing a number 10 but have enough talent on the wings to create for the strikers.

I'm sure it's an oversimplification, but it feels like there's a curve that goes from "17 year old starlet who has just touched senior football available for 15M" to "19 year old with one season of big moments and promise available for 45M" to "21 year old who has established as a top-quality performer available for 80M" and it's the middle one that's by far the worst asset class.

5 of category 1 or 1 of category 3 leaves you in a much better place than 2 of category 2.

Put in more comprehensible English: that's just too much money for what Tyler Dibling has shown.
Very interesting observation and I think it's accurate.

The "curve" of transfer prices does seem a bit wonky. I'm all for snapping up talented youngsters but when you're paying 45m plus for players who've shown one or two moments it doesn't sit right. Might as well just pay the extra 10-15m for established quality.

Case in point: Dibling going for more money than Ademola Lookman. Makes no sense whatsoever.

Cool, but we haven't done anything of note and something that will really help us going forward since buying a player from West Ham almost 4 weeks ago. Maybe apart from signing a 30 year old stopgap from Bayern's dressing room on loan, it has been a shambolic window so far really.

It's not so much about total money spent, but the fact that we continuously go into the season with gaps that were identified the previous season, or even the season prior.

How LB is not a position of priority is beyond me. We've seen last year what happens if Udogie gets injured, we end up playing Spence there, while running Porro into the ground on the right side.

The thing about this is nothing I've seen shows the time and structure for that. Let's say, hypothetically, it's due over 5 years. That's £66m a year. It's probably a rolling number, older transfers are paid off as new ones get added.
Is that really a big deal? For a club that generates as much money as we do and is it that far removed from other clubs?
I think all clubs in the PL have some transfer debt, I don't know when any of our club's amount is due to be paid, My point is Levy said this June past that the club has spent £700m on player acquisitions since the new stadium was opened 2019. He didn't mention that a sizeable portion of that sum is yet to be paid.

I saw this chart online but I don't know if it's accurate but I suppose if it is accurate then about £300m of Levy's £700m is yet to be paid.

I don't know of the figures are gross or not, so say for example the Kane money might have paid some of it off, if the figures are gross and money owed to our club from other clubs haven't been applied.

Dibling 30k a week, Lookman 150k a week. Makes perfect sense.

The red line on that chart shows money spent on hairspray, legal fees to keep a rape case hush for 3 years, piz buin for certain right backs and 2 pre ordered open top bus parades.

BBC gossip page:
Tottenham want to add to their attacking options and have AC Milan's Portugal forward Rafael Leao, 26, and 24-year-old Real Madrid and Brazil winger Rodrygo among their targets.
