I am fairly optimistic we will pull off 2-3 big signings that will improve our first 11. I'm guessing a wide forward like leao or rodrygo and an AM like Eze or Paz*

*who I rate highly. I didn't know he'd left Madrid though. he was supposed to be their next big thing. but I hate Real Madrid as much as Woolwich so I don't watch them if I can avoid it

I was out yesterday, how many did we beat Bayern by in Daniel’s brave new world?
10-0! Harry was shitting his pants, scoring 4 own goals, and deeply regretting leaving us!

You’re absolutely on the money here.

We are miles behind the top 4 and also worse than Villa or Newcastle atm. There’s definitely a disconnect between the fans/board perception of our squad based on past finishes and the real ability of the squad.

Right now I look at the players we’ve got like Bentancur, Spence, Sarr, Vicario, Van de Ven, Johnson, even Maddison and Kudus, they’re not getting close to any of the top 4 squads and very few of them would get into the Villa or Newcastle squad. They’re good players, but they’re Brighton/Forest/Bournemouth level good players. That’s the bracket the squad we’ve built is in now. We’re a million miles off the Kane, Son, Eriksen, Dele, Dembele, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Lloris, Walker teams, yet fans/board seem to think we should still be at that level.
Disagree with Van de Ven and Sarr there, both of who I think are very good players. But take those two and Romero, and outside of that we are made up of pure mid-table mediocrity. Quite how that has happened over the last few years, only Mr Levy can explain.

They are very good players, but clubs like Brighton, Bournemouth and Forest have very good players too. They’re on that level, neither of them are top 4 level players if we take off our Spurs tinted specs.

Romero is the only top level player in the squad.

Relegation a real threat this time…?
I don't think relegation is a threat but at this rate I can see a Nuno Mark 2 situation, it will get Toxic when we are bottom half around Christmas and TF will be the sacrifice to try and get the fans off Levys back, the only reason Ange got so long was because of them first 10 games.

I get TF worked wonders at Brentford but for them staying up was the aim, as Spurs Fans we expect (and rightly so) to actually be challenging the Top 5 and going Deep in the cups, even that is a fall from Grace, as we were all sold the dream that the stadium would actually make us competing for the league and CL.

The way I see it is Levy is making out Spurs are a Michelin star restaurant, he's charging a fortune for the fine dining experience, he gets a good cook in and then skimps on the ingredients then wonder why he gets shitty reviews from the punters as the food is not up to scratch, he then ends up sacking the chef , even though it was the bald cunt who just gave him a half price bag of rice and some dry pasta to create his menu!

He's not exceptional, but is numbers at Lyon, where he did play more advanced often, were decent. 15 and 14 G/A per season, XA90 0.20. His first season for West Ham was decent. 10 G/A 0.20 XA90. Where you get the value add is that he also grafts, gets his foot in, sees plenty of ball, and progresses the ball via passing (ie the pre-assist decent OBV)

Is it me, or do neither of them look that special in the data?

It’s just mad to me that we’ve fallen so far from Eriksen, Dele and Dembele in CM

Maddison is very frequently injured, it's why I didn't want him in the first place, still baffled we went with him over Eze, but hey ho.

Clearly the club knew it too in their pursuit of MGW. He needed replacing anyway because he just can't be relied upon to stay healthy over the course of a season. His body is wearing out very quickly, and I don't know that he comes back the same player, of indeed he has done his ACL, especially nearing 30.
Said exactly the same when it first came out we were looking at him. Think Deuterz Deuterz did too iirc. Very good player (not elite), puts up solid numbers, but way too injury-prone (likely cause he doesn't live the life of a pro athlete).

But Daniel gonna Daniel.

"Obviously we are signing players here where the processes in Brentford, I'm not saying they were better, I think they're very good," said the head coach. "I think that Johan and his team is doing a top job, top, but just for them to understand what I'm looking for, so that needs to be aligned.

"At Brentford it was aligned (clicks fingers). 'I want that', 'OK, fine', we look at it, boom, and now I need to use more time with Johan and Rob and these guys and then we make presentations. 'No, no, no, I need that instead', so all that is just extra hours every day."

Sounds like Frank is asking for Player X and being given Player Y. Sometimes I wonder how smart these managers are before they take the job. Surely they must know what we are like before they come???
