Joking aside, that is where we're at depth wise in the CL. We can only register 21 players + Austin and you name a 23 man squad for matchdays so there will be 1 spot for a List B academy player and we've loaned out all the players closest to being ready for men's football. 16 year-olds like Williams-Barnett, Byfield is where we're at now as a CL option on the bench.

I watched the Woolwich-Spurs game when him and Dowman played and he was the best player on the pitch, better than Dowman, his skill level is elite but I worry he is a slim Jim but smooth on the ball as anyone you will see.

What I don't understand is we bid 70 million for Marc Guehi at the end of Jan but palace turned it down due lack of time to bring in a replacement.

So in that case why didn't we bid 70 again once the window opened instead of 5 mil for Takai? What a mystery

If one were cynical, it might be that our January bid was nothing but a publicity stunt 🤷‍♂️

Any team that finishes 17th and doesn't take the threat of relegation the following season seriously in all fairness deserves to be in a relegation fight the following year.

So far Son has left, Solanke hasn't got even a full match in pre season under his belt, we've lost Maddison for pretty much the whole season before we've kicked a ball and Kulusevski is apparently out until the new year. We are in a significantly worse place than the squad that finished 17th last season.

It's an absolute shambles and we have barely 3 weeks to fix it yet again. It's appalling when only weeks ago our chairman said he wants to win the Premier League.

I don't expect reckless spending but I don't expect truly disastrous planning of the season so far.
Great post. We're all feeling the pretty much the same way.
Interesting how the troll somehow finds your concerns amusing though.

On Palhinha: I found him to be incredibly overrated during his Fulham tenure, I see his ball winning stats in the same way I see Adama Traore’s dribbling. You can’t rate a player just because they have one outstanding attribute.

The fact that Fulham replaced him with Sander Berge and retained their level of performance is mildly concerning to say the least.

He got found out at Bayern because he can’t pass wind. Same reason why PSG got rid of Ugarte after a season. Those are red flags to me.

Passing in our midfield was already a weakness; combativeness wasn’t. We needed a DLP at 6 far more than a shin kicker IMO.

Nobody will ever convince me that Hojbjerg was a necessity, sorry. We signed him after finishing 6th, He left us in 8th. Just because he was more “reliable” than Winks/Ndombele doesn’t make him good. Mediocre steady Eddie that talked a good game. I attach him immediately to Mourinho and that era that did us untold damage.
We needed a Roy Keane ie a destroyer who could actually play some footy.

We got a B-lister who tackles a lot cause he's slow in the head. Bet you he's gonna cost us 2 or 3 cards and similar pens conceded.

The real problem is the failure of our Academy. They neither provide players that can step up and play regularly for the first team or provide an income when sold. All of our top young players are either committed to loans or available to go. With only a 21 man CL squad we needed them here. We only have 1 player that is home grown for CL which is dismal.
