Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I didn't realise that James McAtee has one year left on his City deal

Only 22, English, a hardworking number 10/wide right attacker, good attitude, won't be asking for crazy wages

This is the classic THFC opportunistic deal just waiting to be completed
Yup that is my prediction from the minute Maddison got injured. A deadline day move for Mcatee! Levy will see it as a risk free gamble. Even if he flops this year and doesn't make any impact, he's still a young english player with value.

Better get used to it in that case.

We are buying young potential, and the odd experienced player, Solanke, Kudus, Danso, Maddison and the like.

Lange made this clear in his first interview, that so many in hear have listened to him and are still in denial is amazing.

As much as I don't like it, I have moved on and stopped worrying about where we are with transfers and expecting transfer records to be broken.

Don't give yourself an ulcer worrying about it, the club isn't changing it's philosophy on player transfers.
So...Do you think Daniel Levy was lying when he claimed the new stadium "Would be the game changer that allows us to compete with Europe's elite"

McAtee wouldn’t be the worst bit of business, but it should be accompanied with the signing of a more established 10/LW. Given Levy’s penchant for leaving the squad incomplete, you just know they’d leave it at McAtee alone.

Yeah I'm not against McAtee as long as we sign Eze as well

Oh and Rodrygo on a one year loan deal

3 players that would give an instant lift to our attacking options and offer fans some hope for the season ahead

Forgive me, but I bought into that!!
I believed Enic had a 20 year plan, training ground, stadium and that revenue etc to attract and afford the best of the best, and for years to come we would be challenging for the top honours.

This window, more than ever has shown how naive I was. I will allow myself a small amount of leeway purely because of my desire for this to be true, and I should have seen the light after the CL final in 2019, when it was glaringly obvious where Enic's real focus lied but I am ashamed to say I continued to believe!

I'd never relay this to my old women because she would never understand, but I'm putting it out there to you in the hope you will, when I say, I'm broken!

It's the proportion of revenue that's invested in player salaries though.
We're 20th out of 20.

The obvious conclusion is that we could pay more, much more, to attract better players... but the club chooses not to.

So the obvious question is...where is all that extra revenue going.

We are a football club that doesn't prioritise the football team. Whichever way you look at it or try and dress it up, it's a scam.
As I have said before it is total wages that matter where we were 7th. 5 of those above us are richer than us. It is not that players can get more money from the likes of West Ham as if that was the case why did Kudus move to us. I have not seen his wages but he is bound to be getting more. We got Frank from Brentford and are you really saying he got more at Brentford.
I am not disputing we are not competing on wages or transfer fees with the top 5 but we are with the rest.

We're going round in circles here Malcolm

You acknowledge that we spend a lower proportion of our revenue on player wages than every one else..not just in England but in every major league in Europe.

The obvious conclusion is we are not attracting the quality of player we could if we invested more. And obviously we could invest more if we chose to.

If Liverpool, for instance, only invested around 40% on wages, they would not be signing the quality of player they are now.

It's a scam Malcolm . There's no other word to describe it.
