Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Sure, but as it stands, we could get a better deal by not rushing.
Many fans threw tantrums because we didn't rush into spending £60m on Ndombele and Solanke. And now those same fans are annoyed we wasted the money.

How is Solanke in the same bracket as Ndombele lol. Not wasted at all....albeit big season this is for him.

Hopefully a deal to be done with Palace that satisfies everyone but other Clubs could still come into play and that's a risk the longer we leave it.

The tactics won't work against Burnley. For starters Danso won't be playing. They'll have everyone back and will be delighted to defend set pieces and long throws. We'll need to have good possession patterns and dominate them in the final third to beat them. Its a totally different game.

And this has nothing to do with Ange. Under Ange you'd be worried about conceding 2 stupid goals and maybe drawing 2-2 but at least you know we'd be on the front foot all game and creating chances. Frank will target the clean sheet and will be thinking 1 or 2 goals will be enough. Frank's model and style is far more sustainable so this is not a dig. I'm just worried that on Saturday, with no creative midfielder if we'll struggle to create any chances.

I mean, I get the worry, but also - this is a completely unknown - you have never seen how Frank setups up our team vs a low block side.

IM atcually very excited to see what he has planned - especially after seeing Porro and Spence yesterday - i think they will be key

what can he do?

you either take the Poch/Ange approach and say it's all good even though you're fucking seething inside until it spills out by getting more and more grumpy with the players, media etc

or you take the Conte approach and immediately call out the Enic bullshit

each path leads to the sack

Literally every time he's interviewed, he says we are "in the market" and that we are trying to build a squad that can compete in 4 competitions. So it's quite clear he expects more signings.

And while Ange was afraid to criticise Levy, Poch definitely wasn't. Especially when our big players started fading. Remember this:

Last night proved how lacking we are in quality and signings, we were not prepared as everything should have been done before this game and only one low life wee piece of shit 💩 to blame. The longer he’s left in charge means we are going nowhere.
Levy/ENIC out!

I'm a fan of Solanke and I think we paid the going rate tbh. I just used him as he was £65m, so similar price.
He divides opinions on here though. And tbh, last night and the United final, Richarlison did so much more.
If you could blend them into 1 player then you'd have a handful.

He is, said so to the press yesterday, here is a picture of him from the press conference.

He's not fit yet though so you can't judge last night.

Richarlison was excellent last night. They both work really hard and our real team players, just need to be more prolific in and around the box.

I think Solanke has a bit more Polish to his game but when Richarlison puts in that level of performance we saw last night it'd be a close call.

And growing more complex by the window, in this age of deferred payments, spreading costs over multiple years for PSR purposes, deferred compensation to players/agents, loans with options/obligations to buy etc.

In fact, I think part of the growing commonality of loans with options/obligations is that it provides an expedient manner in which to get deals over the line whilst leaving the legal beagles time on the back end to revise and fine tune agreements, payment schedules, etc.

I think we're heading towards more pre-arrangements like when Liverpool signed Keïta. Especially with the continual growth of FIFA/UEFA summer fixtures/tournaments and more and more post/preseason globe trotting sponsorship tours.
I was just trying to help someone get a full house

I suspect because we’d already done the groundwork in January and it was an easy deal to do to bring him in. We know it was a club rather than manager signing.

I was at the game in Munich and they love him. He was getting adulation from the fans and the club. So there must be something there. I’m not seeing it either and wouldn’t have bought him. A loan again at most.
40 million reasons why!

Unfortunately I can’t agree with you about Solanke. He was brought in to replace Kane after one good season at Bournemouth and he’s not half the player big Kane was. It just goes to show how badly we are advised on signings. I don’t like arguing with other supporters but some things in our club need changing from the top down.
Yes Richi played well last night.

I'm just responding to seeing multiple 4-0 predictions and people expecting us to win easy at the weekend. I'm trying to bring caution and explain that this is the real unknown with Frank. Can he get us to dominate lesser teams and create loads of chances? I was less worried about the tougher games as I know he is elite as setting up to be pragmatic

I love the language used by journo’s.

What exactly does preparing a bid entail? Are we licking the envelope? Clicking the pen? Perhaps Lange is doing finger exercises and voice warm ups by the phone?
