They apparently told him that his brother wouldn’t get a new contract and all the charity stuff they do with his family would get cut if he left for Barca. Then offered him a 10 year contract worth more than half our squad.
That BEK fee could prove to be an absolute bargain.
Of course City don't "need" to sell Savinho, in the usual sense of the word. They don't need money, again in the usual sense, the guy is under contract for a long time, and is only 21. They don't have to do anything that would portray them as the more enthusiastic party of the two.
That being said they are absolutely crowded with wingers, by far the deepest position of theirs. Look at this list;

Savinho wouldn't get more than the odd cup game if he were to stay this year.
Wouldn't put it past City to ignore the common courtesy by disregarding their player's wish, but keeping him on the bench to collect dust for a year for a few million pounds would make no sense from a business standpoint either.

Hope he enjoys getting splinters on his backside if he stays - he'll probably be sitting on it quite a bit for the next few years.
If it was only ever about getting a pay rise then we're probably better off without.
His new deal has a €90m release clause, but he already makes supposedly €320k a week, so he's going to be around the £350k per week mark in wages, so dream on.
Besides, he wants Barca and would've taken a wage cut to go there. So I doubt he'd even come here. No point in dreaming about that one, never happening.
