Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

There’s no way I’m not getting on a plane to a couple of games this season.

I understand those that will say this is the minimum a club like Spurs should be doing but for me, whether or not they fell forwards into it or not, this is the club really making an effort to win.

7 year contract and signing a player on the same money as your top earners. That is conviction ambition
I agree although I wonder if this was done out of desperation of it it marks a much needed shift in mentality from our ownership.

STILL NO!

Season 4 No GIF by The Office

Ok so he is actually ours now. No hijack possible anymore.

Still don't unlock that thread.
Hopefully the office door at Hotspur Way is locked too.
And the wifi turned off.

These are the types of signings I wouldn't have thought us capable of before this window, such has been the lack of ambition and obvious failings of the recruitment team.

Eze and MGW fell into this bracket too.

That has been part of the ENIC conditioning. But to get one over the line where you'd normally expect him to land at Chelsea, Bayern or PSG is fucking huge.

It's a new benchmark for ENIC to live up to. We now have to remain at the top table in the transfer market.

Now that Savinho's best mate (let's just go with it) is POTENTIALLY joining the mighty Spurs, I'm fully expecting a transfer request to be submitted in the next hour.

This will definitely happen right? Right?

60 Million Euros? That's cheap.

Homegrown tax is unavoidable I guess, but this nonsensical EPL tax that puts the league on a pedestal is truly getting out of hand. Footballing world is not divided between EPL and the rest.

I agree with the upper part.

But not with the lower one - I am pretty sure that in offensive department this is it.
We play many games with 4-3-3 and 5-3-2 anyway which do not have traditional 10. Nor is Simons traditional 10.
In 4-3-3 he can be part of front 3 and in 5-3-2 can be most advanced midfielder.

When we play 4-2-3-1 in that option he is #10 and the LW can be covered by combination of Odobert, Johnson and potentially Richie once Solanke gets fit.

So in summary - I mean, yes, we could use Savinho like winger too to add quality into that department. But trying to stay realistic, it seems that our business in that sector is done after Simons.

But I'd like us to add another midfielder into the mix. And now that Vuskovic has left on loan than maybe a versatile defender too.
None of the LW you mention are up to it.
Simons best position is centrally and that is where he will play the majority of time.

We still need to do something there.

I wasn't sure about Savinho, was pleased with the idea of Eze - but thought £65m for a 27yr old was a bit much.

This price for Simons is a very good player, for a decent price, at the ideal age. Very happy with this one.

Eze & MGW were readymade PL signings....

Simons not so. But given he has now performed in 2 leagues + goal contributions in CL means he is as ready as he can be.

At 22, he has atleast 4 yrs on his side for Eze. As long as he adapts and brings in same output, he could be one of our best signings for years ahead.

I trust Frank to build him up and shine in PL
