Personally I would rather the manager builds the squad. But we don’t operate like that sadly. Maybe that’s why we are not successful.
We tried that with Poch at the end, then Jose, then Conte. Means you are always lurching from rebuild to rebuild every time the coach gets sacked.
The last really good team we had, Poch was a good fit for the squad instead of him building it. Things started going south when he was trying to choose players and not getting what he wanted or getting them and they were crap.

Things went south with poch because he lost interest and the squad was stale and levy didn’t invest. Nothing to do with him signing the wrong players.
