That’s your way of admitting you can’t really dispute the point,.. I’ll take it.

Depends on what your goal is.
This squad is definitely good enough to finish 5-8th if we don’t have European football.
The fact that we haven’t is on the manager imo,
If the target is to compete for multiple trophies and hopefully win one of them then the squad is miles off it right now because we decided to gamble on building the depth with young players on low wages.
YeRichard Arlison I don't get what you're trying to say tbh.
None of those players listed can be described as "punts". What exactly is your definition of the word "punt"? just because the player is at a lesser team and he so happens to be on a lower wage it's a punt?

You can add Ndombele and Richarlison to that list as well.
Around 120m spent on both with Ndombele being on 200k p/w.
These are not "punts". These are attempts at signing proven players of a certain quality that for one reason or another didn't work (and I really wanted us to sign both).
Ndombele was wanted by numerous big clubs at time of signing. We showed ambition even attempting to go for him as he was one of the hottest prospects in world football at the time and the general belief was that he was going to be one of the best midfielders at the time.Tanguy had issues with his attitude and fitness levels hanging over him before we signed him. We took a punt that he was past that.
Richy was less of a punt, I agree.Airfixx we can add him to the list of rare occasions. I think Chelsea even tried to hijack once we’d agreed lower wages with him.
We’ve been unlucky with Richarlison because he has scored goals when fit but his body is broken. Was it broken before we signed him? If not how did we allow him to get broken.

It was a risk...it was not a punt.
I agree with this.Maybe we are seeing risk and punt differently.
IMO every signing has a degrees of gamble/punt to it.
Either the gamble is weighted against the financial risk of wages and transfer fee or it’s weighted against the quality of player not being as good.
Our model under Levy leans towards the latter.
Lloris was already playing senior international football for France before we signed him.Ok, I’m hearing that one.
So, once under ENIC we didn’t sign a punt and it’s because they fell into our laps
I was, and it sounds like that's the market we'll be fishing in. Home grown disgruntled relegation fodder is Levy's dream signing.
