Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

I can’t believe the whinging on social media that Eze is not what we need. I don’t think people realise how mental our schedule is.

I think the main issue is historically it is either/or with us. Eze is great but we badly need a top DM and RW plus ideally some form of cover left back. If we can do that and Eze then great but it remains to be seen.

Can someone create an apology form for Daniel?

I'd like to apologise for accusing him of having a lack of ambition

This signing surely ends that debate once and for all

Well if someone does not post the source of the Winning is hard” comment attributed to Levy I am sure Shady will be producing one for me.
It will of course not be filled in and not be signed , but happy to forward it to you so you can ignore it as well

Bale, Modric, Walker, Kane, Berbatov..,

When we sell elite level players, how do we get on in terms of replacing them with similar level players in this model?

I’ve never said we haven’t signed good players, that’s what you keep bleating on about. I’m talking about what happens to our football team when those players we’ve signed develop into the elite level and we sell them.
After a period of transition, we usually come back stronger and achieve the thing we couldn't achieve when they were at the club (despite having players of lesser technical ability in their respective positions):

Berbatov - couidn't get into the CL. Two seasons after he left us, we got into the CL with Defoe and Crouch leading the line.

Bale - couldn't achieve consistent CL football. Two seasons after he left us, we built a golden generation of players and became CL regulars and got to a CL Final.

Kane - couldn't win a trophy. Two seasons after he left us, we won a trophy.

I never said he never said it . I said a number of people posted it and I did not independently research its origin . So in this instance you are making stuff up . Now if nobody posts the quote and it’s context , then I have attributed something to Levy he did not say . However the jury ain’t in yet so a bit early to grandstand

If you're constantly regurgitating a comment which you used as fuel to criticise the board with and used it as a stick to beat the club with then what's the difference?

It's only now when i ask you to actually provide some evidence of said quote you plead ignorance, funny guy.

Decent counter point tbf

So sell Romero what are we achieving in 2 years time?

Well if he said it, he gave me the stick himself and said take a swing at me . If he didn’t say it I have found a random stick and beat him with it for no reason.

Also, cost doesnt matter, mate - output does.

Would you rather pay more just to pay more?

Talking about Diaz's and Nunez's total transfer costs as if it matters - neither have matched their predecessors' output.

That's the ONLY thing that matters..... Sanchez cost more than Toby did he not? Ndombele more than Dembele?

Aurier cost more than Walker
Reguillon cost more than Rose
Lamella more than Bale
LoCelso more than Winks/Wanyama/etc.

etc.
etc.
etc.

Are you saying Liverpool get less output from their transfers from us?

You are obsessed with Mane to Diaz as the one that maybe balanced out total transfer cost. I’m not sure but either way, it’s very clear their model is nothing like ours when most of their transfers have bigger total transfer costs than the outgoing player and they are serial winners where Levy isn’t and his model allowed them to overtake us.

Who did we sign to replace Bale, Modric, Walker, Kane, Berbatov…?

Were they for a similar or higher total transfer cost than the player we sold?

If we sell Romero this summer, are we replacing him with a players who’s total transfer cost equals or exceeds the amount we sell him for and get off our books for wages?
Didn’t Arsewipes replace Henry with Giroud? Or Pires with Nasri? Or Fabregas with Wilshire?

Every club has similar issues replacing their stars
