interesting thread here on Diomande

Yea, my figures is all comps. Very good assister, like Kudus. Which is another positive to bring him in, he'd command a player on him, which means Kudus can get rid of being doubled up on.
This is so key. Regardless of the who, we need a real threat on the LW to keep teams from routinely doubling up on Kudus. He gets some stick for dribbling through traffic, but if he only had 1 or 2 to beat instead of 3, he’d have more success.

Gotta make the defence respect the left side.
(Includes getting Destiny healthy and another actual attacking threat to compete w him)

Hopefully that Odobert cameo is the start of something.

A few points....

- It's not realistic to expect him to arrive and maintain a 1 in 180min assist rate (even if he might bounce back to that in a more functioning Spurs team as he matures). As per prev; he's currently in a dream scenario of a club..... Easy street by comparrison to what he'd find here.

- We need genuine goal-threat from our w/fwds too (yes, inc. Kudus!) otherwise we just become Crosses FC and teams will just give up the flanks and pack the center.

- He'd be another "jam tomorrow" signing (alongside Odo, Tel). Someone in the vein of Semenyo or Ndiaye is far more fitting what our current situ demands... We need a NOW player... Especially with Jonson being sold too.

Everyone has it in for Frank, which I get. Performances have been awful. However, what retains my faith in him somewhat, is that he’s seen through players like Johnson and Tel.

Not for me.

Our play is poor at best, and that's in the absence of the two players.

Frank has been disappointing so far. Less about having it in for him and more about some of the tripe he is spouting and the incohesive nature of our football.

No idea how long Ndiaye is out injured for. He also isn't a natural on the left. Not sure he'd come to be Kudus' understudy.

interesting thread here on Diomande

Thx for posting, the one guy who has watched him a ton swears by him. Didn’t know he was effective off both wings - that would make increase his value to us!

But sounds a long shot he moves in Jan.

Missed the point.... "In the vein of".... Meaning of such footing and stage of being established.
Point not missed. There are no others in that vein or gettable for Spurs atm.

The last 6 months has proven we have eyes above our station with both Eze and Semenyo turning us down.

Unfortunately, in a January window, we are extremely limited in both our pull and who teams are willing to let go in the middle of their season.

The only reason Semenyo is on the move is because of his clause. If he didn't have it, City wouldn't be paying 100m for him.

We are in the market for the likes of Savinho. Who, btw, has done far more in football than a Diomande people are suggesting paying a King's ransom for.

Do you have any names in that vein you think Spurs can get?

With punts you either:
  • Pay very little for any particular one of them, so that you wouldn't be losing much in case he turned out to be a complete flop. There would still be the risk of those small losses adding up in case you kept missing somehow, but what can you do?
or
  • Take the Chelsea route in terms of buying them in abundance and treating each as a stock to be flipped for profit. You'd be guaranteed to win some this way, which would allow you to pay relatively large sums for any particular one of them without worrying much about potential losses.
The modus operandi of the last two summers where we spent a combined 30+ 25 + 30 = 85* million for the trio of Gray, Odobert and Tel is a dead end.

Players in question are hardly special, we paid significant sums in each of the three cases, and we're not buying these youngsters in abundance to make significant profits in some cases to make up for the losses in others.

Nobody has a large sample size to go off so nobody should be extremely confident in their judgement of him.

We have extremely limited evidence about Diomande.

Across the entirety of Europe I'm reluctant to assume that's true........

I'm no more/less enamored at the idea of that guy either.

I don't watch enough other leagues to have my own black book of targets.

There are no hidden gems in Europe anymore now. Every major club knows every youngster with a rep.

Anyone Spurs knows, the others do too.

Most summers there is a UEFA international age-group tournament going on.

Adding that all the major football media outlets dish out these lists every season/year.

The ones that exist, we both already know, so the clubs do as well.

The Guardians list of best players under 21 had players from the arse end of Benin, such is the scope of scouting these days.
