My suspicion is that the deal has been negotiated before Frank arrived but of course I could be wrong
So overly careful not to 'do a Leeds' that we've almost ended up more like them than a regular CL club.

Speed isn't his biggest issue... the fact he's a donkey who couldn't hit a cows ass with a banjo is probably more of a problem.
I agree, players that we are talking about now like Semenyo, Mitoma and N'dyaie have all initially signed for non top tier premier league clubs. I think the problem is that when a player is as good as Semenyo and we are trying to buy premier league proven players we are not as attractive as Man City, Liverpool or even A***nal...

We were literally in the CL final not long ago and just finished 17th.
But apparently that doesn't change our place in the pecking order.
You stink it up as badly as we have the last 5 years, we shouldn't expect the same level of attraction.
Jeez, we were talking about Kane returning not long ago (even Bayern weren't sure) and now he's suddenly talking about how he's gonna stick it out in Germany and possibly sign a new contract.
With respect Mitoma isn't a great player or he would be back in a Brighton team that are on a poor run.
We need players who are going to make an appreciable difference.

This is sport, the whole point is winning and you don’t ever do that by “accepting your place in the pecking order”.

Surely, you understand we aren't going to be signing an unsettled Vinicius Jnr or an Omar Marmoush, who are probably the 2 biggest maybe names on the market.
It's about being pragmatic as to where the rebuild starts.
Sure, we can waste a window courting Vini Jnr as we did with Eze, but in the real world it won't get this show on the road.

We mock the Gooners so much for their delusions, and rightly so. I like to think we have a smarter, more grounded fanbase (with the obvious exceptions) than those absolute balloon knots that liken Calafiori to Maldini.
We can be the best, or one of, as I agree that we have the infrastructure in place (we have done for many years now). But we are nowhere near at this current moment in time using those advantages and have squandered many opportunities under Levy.
Remember, even when we were very good, we lost Walker, Modric, Bale etc. There is a pecking order.

He does look really good in AFCON games so far. Several times a match, he glides past two or three players before being stopped by another two or three. This in turn is leaving so much space on the other wing that Diallo is looking like a world beater.
If the two of them had someone better than Zaha to aim for, they’d be winning games by ten goals.
