Transfers The Winter Transfer Thread - 25/26

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Nearly a quarter of the way through the transfer window, with a threadbare squad, and we’ve signed no one. In fact we have arguably weakened the squad selling Johnson both in numbers and morale. We should of been signing players early, show a statement of intent but instead we’ll wait until after we’ve been knocked out of the FA cup, the one piece of silverware we had any vague chance of winning, and then we’ll sign a couple of last minute ‘potentials’ or cheapo alternatives. Same old, same old with the new regime it seems.

At least we now know the Lewis family bollox about new on the pitch ambition was a lie and it's business as usual.

So maybe Frank is the perfect guy for them really, won't rock the boat trying to win titles, happy to work with what he's given and take the abuse.

Might as well extend Davies and richarlison contract while they're at it

In the Portuguese league though where outside of a handful of teams you are basically playing SPL level.
And he doesn't score regularly against the big clubs over there - though he has a good record of scoring overall.

He almost signed for Chelsea a couple of summers ago for about £35m, and recently Porto bought out all the rights to him for £25m, so gearing up for a sale.

I've seen him a few times on TV, last time I recall Vs. Nice in November. Wasn't bad, but didnt really stand out and missed a few chances.

Could be good, could be shit, so who knows

Yeah, but have you seen how Gyokeres and Sesko have fared. Thet’a no guarantee he’d shine in the PL. 80m is too high.

That's fair, and oth players cane with high expectation, as did our loan signings of Muani and Tel.

I think it is the relative failure (so far), of players bought at high cost which is acting as.a barrier to some level of expenditure, which continues to confuse the basis for selling Johnson.

Hard to understand how the club think they will operate in a window when our attraction has fallen, so I just don't understand how decisions are being made.

It's just baffling. And now Kudus is out for a while, which would have been partly mitigated by the retention of Johnson but may also allow us to pass the ball more quickly, which is an assumption in of itself.

Johnson needed to go. He is so bad at football he made everyone around him worse. I didn't just want to sell him to any club stupid enough to pay actual money for him, I wanted him hog-tied in a trebuchet and flung over the horizon

And we can nearly guarantee filth club will aim to give Rosenior a signing ir two once he is installed as their manager, because they don't already have enough players. Wretched club.
We just have to get smarter, I blame us entirely. We keep hiring people who don’t have the first clue about how to do their jobs effectively - from board level to managers and players.

The problem with having limited people at the top is they don’t hire good people below them who may outshine them and take their job - so you just get layers of mediocrity. We’re crying out for someone with some footballing vision, or a nutty multi billionaire who would happily go bust in the pursuit of seeing us win

Is there any good sites out there that are bang on the nose for transfer news? I check out newsnow spurs and it is full of crap 💩 the latest from them we are going for Marmoush (I wish).
Levy legacy lives on just buy shite!

Bit confused why we still keep getting linked to CBs.

We currently have Romero and VdV on longish deals, Danso, Dragusin, Vuskovic (the greatest player to have ever lived), Takai, Phillips and Dorrington. And I feel like I've probably forgotten someone too.

Like...what spot are we actually trying to fill here? We've got an established first team duo, reasonable backup. a super talent we need space in the squad for, and a slew of other kids.

Only way it makes sense is if we want to buy left footer as a backup for VdV and then sell both Dragusin AND Danso in the near future? Then our 4 main options could be Romero, VdV, Vuskovic + new guy.
